I am new to thunderbird and can not find a key to delate any of e mail coming in my inbox

Well, there is a key labelled "del" (or something similar) on your keyboard.

I also have a delete button on my toolbar in Thunderbird.

And, if you select a message and right-click you should see a "Delete message" option.
