I have installed firefox 3 different times and deleted it 3 times because even though I chose English every time,it downloads in a language that kind of looks like Russian.I can't get it to work right. What is the problem?

Create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Where are you downloading Firefox from?

You can choose from several languages for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux at www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

This is the Systems & Languages link in the green Download Firefox box on www.mozilla.org

I have downloaded firefox about 8 times from at least 4 different sources.I choose English,it says English on the screen every timebut when I open it,it is in Russian or something. What the hell is wrong with Mozilla, that they don't even have technical support?

You say four different sources yet you did not confirm if you downloaded Firefox from say https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ which has Firefox available in about 90 different languages including en-US and en-GB English.

Mozilla has no control of outside random third-party download sites on what language of Firefox they serve, though usually if the download site is in English then you should get the en-US or en-GB version.

This should give you the en-US 32-bit Firefox for Windows. https://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-45.0.1-SSL&os=win&lang=en-US as it is from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all

So this is not Firefox interface itself that is in Russian but a web site that is opened in Firefox web browse that is in Russian instead of English.

The https://news.yandex.ru/ is a Russian website.

Do you get this when you open a new tab or homepage in Firefox?

Please allow me to step in here, because I have a similar problem. A clean windows 10 x64 English version, build 10586.164 Clean means only Windows has been installed, nothing else

Next thing is to install Firefox. I select English, but get Dutch.

Tried this twice.

At least Firefox should follow the OS language, not the regional settings.

But... preferably it should simply install the version asked for. (Meaning: if my native and Windows language would have been Japanese and I working in Indonesia (Indonesian regional settings), I should be able to install the English version of Firefox.

= p.s. should I create a separate post?

If you want to download a specific locale and not the locale based on your location then go to www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Many thanks!

Indeed this is the solution.

The language selection at the bottom is a bit confusing then. Well, at least it was to me :-)

Thanks again!
