Beginning with version 41, Firefox updates/downloads will not launch. Windows 7.
I have 32-bit and 64-bit Dell desktops, both running Windows 7. Beginning with version 41, Firefox either will not download, install, and launch, or else doesn't recognize the security certificates of certain common web sites (e.g., amazon.com, facebook.com, firefox.org (!)) and displays them as text only. On the 32-bit machine, I was okay through version 42.x, but when I tried to update to version 43.0, Firefox isn't recognized as legitimate software. I am running McAfee virus scan 8.8, in case that's relevant.
I hope you can solve this problem, because I much prefer Firefox to Internet Explorer, which I'm forced to use when Firefox isn't working.
Thanks.

Issues have been previously linked to the McAfee Site Advisor extension. Try to disable it and see if the problem persists.

This did not work. I got the same result as before after running the installation procedure: "The item 'firefox.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly." I do not have McAfee Site Advisor on my PC. This happens with both 32-bit and 64-bit PCs running Windows 7.
Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?
