Hi. I'm using version 1.1.0.0 rev 01020 on an Alcatel OTF.

Sometimes, after locking the screen (either manually or automatically) I can't turn the screen back on. It seems as is the phone shut down by itself because it's totally unresponsive, but I can call it from another phone and it rings. When it rings, the screen remains off. Finally I have to remove the battery to be able to restart it.

I understand that I can't fix this from the phone settings, I just want to know if this is a known issue and if it is resolved in a more recent version. Thanks.

Hi lufte,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Alcatel OTF v1.1.

I have not seen or heard about this issue with any devices in the past. It appears that it may be a hardware issue, in which case, you should contact the manufacturer and/or place or purchase for support.

You may also attempt to reset your device back to factory settings, or manually updating your device to a newer version.

Warning: Resetting your phone will delete all data stored on the device, including apps, calendar data, email accounts, and settings.

To reset the device, follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Settings App (small) Settings application.
  2. Tap on the Device Information button.
  3. Tap on the More Information button.
  4. Tap on the Reset phone button.
  5. Tap OK to reset your device.

Thanks,

- Ralph

Okay, thanks for the info. I guess I'll try to manually update the system's version in the future if my phone company doesn't release an upgrade soon or if the issue becomes too annoying. Thanks again.

Hi. I am using Intex Cloud FX and having the same problem. It mostly happens when I lock the screen when apps are running in the background, but I'm not sure. But, if I try to turn the screen back on after an hour or so, it works - although in most cases I'm too impatient to wait and the only option I have is to remove the battery and put it back in.

I did reset the phone once this problem started appearing. But even after that (once my phone became loaded with apps), the problem reappeared. My guess is that apps running in the background, especially the Mail and ConnectA2 apps that continuously poll their servers for data, use up all the RAM, so that even unlocking the screen doesn't get enough memory to run. The task is either queued up, or the event isn't even registered. But this is just my wild guess.

Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hi John, thanks for the additional information. Personally, I don't believe it is a memory problem since I am able to call it from another phone (you should try this should it happen again) and it rings right away.

Next time, I will try waiting a few hours and see what happens.
