Hi,

Lately each time I start a fresh launch of the firefox browser "youtube_flv_downloader_install.exe" attempts to download, but the download fails. I have no idea why this is happening, I don't have the prog on my computer, and I don't want it, never asked for it, etc.

this only began to happen recently (last few days or so). my version of FF is 30.0

Thanks

This doesn't seem to be a virus, because it's illogical that I virus would cause Firefox to download a 'youtube downloader' program. A similar question has been asked here: Firefox downloads the same file on every startup. Try to remove the download from the download manager, by going to the download arrow => show all downloads and clicking clear downloads.

You can check for pending downloads in the Downloads Manager (Library).

You can also check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
