...and Chrome and Safari also don't work..... Internet Explorer is the only thing that can connect. 100% uninstalled ALL antivirus programs//firewalls and still won't connect. Any idea what could be happening? [Certain games I play, that are constantly connected to the net, also aren't working] Firefox is giving me the usual 'Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at ****.' As is Chrome and Safari. I tried downgrading to Firefox 7.0 since I'd heard of errors with 8.0, but it does the same exact thing. I need to know if I should just wipe my computer and reinstall Windows completely since nothing I've tried has worked. :(

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
