New Tab is blank and named Untitled

Recently each time I open a new tab in my 3.6 browser, it comes up blank and the tab reads untitled. In the efforts to resolve, I have: 1. Scanned for malware - I did find and remove 4 items from my pc using malwarebytes. This was secondary as I run CA Internet Security. 2. Reinstalled Firefox 3.6 as well as the recommended update. 3. Closed the browser and went to start, run, firefox -safe-mode First I disabled all add-ons but the problem persisted On second try I restored the defaults and the problem is still unresolved.

New tabs open by default as about:blank. If that didn't happen before then you had an extension that changed that behavior and that stopped working, so you need to check that in Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.

Your Firefox 3.6 version from 20100115 is very old and you should update to the latest 3.6.13 version via Help > Check for Updates.
