Website NOVINKY.CZ (famous Czech news server) uses random ads as background (probably with a lot of scripts). It makes Firefox to scroll up and down extremely slow, while Google Chrome is fluent with the same page and IE7 is also quite fluent. Try to hit reload button several times to obtain some 'full page' advertisment.

That site has a scrolling background. If there are such problems with a background then it is usually caused by a fixed background and scrolling content.
