Computer is unresponsive whenever I close Firefox

Whenever I close all pages of Firefox my computer becomes completely unresponsive. No mouse movement, clicks, or keyboard inputs make a difference. I tried reinstalling Firefox, creating a new profile, and installing different versions of Firefox. This is not a problem for other browsers like Chrome. This makes my computer freezes for minutes at a time which can make things difficult for me when I am under a time crunch. I could not find any questions on this matter in any forums. Is this a problem with Firefox or my computer? Has anyone encountered this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this?

I've had this and something good to try is try to get to the task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete.) then try to close it, if it has a black screen then that should fix if you can kill the task.

How have you been closing the browser? The X at the corner of the window? Menu > File > Exit?
