Can no longer watch videos in 1080p with Firefox 57

I can no longer watch videos (regardless of web page like YouTube or other sites) in 1080p.

When I attempt to watch videos in 1080p, the video loads and starts playback like normal for about 3 seconds. Then the video freezes but the audio keeps playing. This seems to happen on all videos that I try to watch in 1080p. My internet connection is not fast enough for anything above 1080p

All videos play normally on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer and also worked in the previous version of Firefox before Firefox Quantum installed during an automatic update.

I have deleted all browser history (with all of the check marks checked to remove all history and permissions), and refreshed Firefox and neither of those helped.

I re-installed the previous version of Firefox (56) and the videos worked again. This seems to be a problem with the new release of Firefox.

Does anybody know if I can fix this with basic computer knowledge or is there something wrong with the new Firefox Quantum?

Luckily, I have not had any of the other problems other users have reported.

Thanks!

See if you can find updates for your Intel(R) HD Graphics as they are old : driverDate: 8-4-2015 You Google Intel(R) HD Graphics and find the download page nut you have to know what generation chipset you are using. CPU-Z would tell you https://www.cpuid.com/ Can also try : https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html I see a few errors in the drivers so this is probably the reason having issues with Firefox 57. It 's new engine is CSS and it looks at pages like that then renders it as pixels.

This the best way to uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved.

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Then Tools --> Options --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Hardware Acceleration might have also been a issue so run it and see and turn things back on and test it.

Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52.5.0 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
