Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar. Type browser.startup.homepage

What is the value? Right-click and select Reset to restore its default value; about:home

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

The value is "about:home". The reset button is gray out so I believe it is already in default value.

I think i mess up with the registry path earlier and deleted some third partybrowser engine address from the registry. How do i restore or fix it?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Nope...:( still the same. Everytime i open the browser it ref to my local disk. the browser still work, by pressing home button so that it goes to the Mozilla FireFox default page. Wanted to fix it because it annoying :(

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

and run firefox by doubleclicking the firefox.exe. Is the problem happening again?

It is almost certainly the link you are using to open Firefox that is wrong. Try making a shortcut to the program file you double clicked and drag that to the desktop. That should then be a shortcut icon that may be clicked to start Firefox, and should start Firefox up as expected.

What is your normal method of starting Firefox ? If it is by clicking the icon on the Desktop and the new one works keep the new one and delete the original one.

Note that a single trailing dot in the target field is sufficient to cause this issue (a dot is a link to the active folder).

Guys it is not about the shortcut and the target path of the shortcut. I got the issue even when opening the Firefox icon directly from the Program Files folder - C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

Hi Cor-el, not sure if I follow. What should i do with the sessionstore.js file? I tried to delete it, restart machine and relaunch but still getting the same page. Also I had done a fresh install of Firefox previously (deleting all the files from "C:\Users\Wei Kit\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\" folder and deleting the folder - C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox)
