How do I get rid of the VeriSign lock in the address bar?

Being an American and living in Europe has sometimes prevented me from reaching a .com address in the US. It seems to be due to some server changing the url address that I'm trying to reach. An example is my trying to contact Lenovo for s/w updates. Here is the address: <http://support.lenovo.com/us-en/ and some server changes it to https://support.lenovo.com/de-de/ which doesn't take me where I want to go. Lenovo Tech says that their server is not doing it. T-Online has the same problem when they try to make contact with Lenovo. Yahoo.com says that their server is not to blame. And Semantic claims that they are innocent. Does anybody know whose server it is that's changes the address that I write in the address bar? How do I get around this VeriSign thing that sometimes keeps me from doing any useful work?

Can you update to Firefox 32 and try there? 24 is VERY out of date.

Unless you have the Firefox 24.8.0 ESR version that is still supported.

Some sites automatically redirect you to a site in the local language, based on where your IP locates you. You can check the installed Languages to see if that helps:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Content > Languages

There is usually a link on such websites choose a language or go to an international version that allows to choose the language.

Try this URL:
