EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ

more options

For the last week Firefox seems to have started crashing at random time's for no reason. At first I had no clue then looking around I saw you can read them crash reports it say's it sends off and they all seem to say it was caused by EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ. As far as i know none of the add-on's updated or anything when this started so not sure what would cause it. tho 70% I do have a video playing at some point then it happens.

last 5 crash reports(if i can do this right) bp-21ae88bf-2170-469f-b9ec-f9b7c2140528 bp-aeca9fbc-6ad5-4b57-8079-ce59a2140527 bp-f817e11f-8365-4d45-9cb5-c22eb2140527 bp-b67d4c7e-3cfa-4ff3-a413-9693a2140526 bp-78b4161e-c4b5-45cb-b3c3-14c4a2140526

There are hundreds of bug fixes in each Firefox update. Yes, there also are feature changes that not everyone loves.

Can you update to Firefox 29.0.1?

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Could you disable the HTTPS-Everywhere extension? It seems to be associated with random problems and I would like to rule that one out.

You can change that on the Add-ons page, either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools button) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Note that the enabled extensions appear first, with the disabled ones at the bottom.
