Suddenly my Thunderbird cannot download new messages from my work account. I've the same account configured on another PC (my personal one) and overther everything works fine. On my working PC I have this problem:

1 Able to connect to the pop3 server 2 Says "Nothing to download".

On this thunderbird installation, I've another email account and it works fire (can send and receive messages as usual), the problem is only with that account. This account can, however, sending messages without problem (as usual), the problem is only on downloading the new one.

My ISP service is ok, I've checked with them and there are not problems on their side, the problem is only on my working PC.

I don't use extensions (so, nothing to disable), tried to start My Windows 8 on safe mode with network capatibilities but cannot download nothing, Tried to delete from webmail the first messages not downloaded (i've read that a bad header in some messages can make thunderbird avoiding to download new messages) but nothing to do, the problem is still there.

I use:

Windows 8 Thunderbird 78.10.2 Clean Thunderbird installation, so no plugins. I've tried to uninstall my Antivirus too, but didn't worked.

Hello! I am using Thunderbird v. 48.8.0 and up until cca 3-4 months ago I had no problem using Thunderbird for receiving and sending mails from Google Account. But over the night I started to receive errors about receiving the e-mails but had no problems sending them. Since I didn't find any help, I deleted account from Thunderbird and tried to create it from the beginning. But after that I couldn't do that. The error I continue to receive is "wrong mail or wrong pass" but I can log in into Gmail via web with no problems what so ever. I even uninstalled Thunderbird and installed it again. But before new installation, I deleted every file (I could find and I read about on the Internet) connected to the Thunderbird. Nothing helped. I still cannot even create a Gmail account in Thunderbird. I don't know what else to do. Please help because I don't want to use other e-mail client - I am very happy with Thunderbird but this is really annoying. Thank You! Big HELLO from Zagreb, Croatia. Ana

Since upgrading to V78 (.10?) this does not work any longer for address lists... To write to an address list I can create out of the address book, oh. But forwarding is nit possible in this way. How to do?

I am very frustrated with the latest edition of Thunderbird. It has stopped receiving and sending emails.

Here is the situation: iMac, late 2012 (yeah, it's old ... but it works), OS 10.15.7. Thunderbird, 78.10.1. NortonLifeLock / Norton Security 8.6.3, build 61. Earthlink is my ISP for mail.

Thunderbird was receiving and sending emails, albeit sometimes slowly, until sometime May 3 when Thunderbird upgraded. Then, TB hangs in the process of connecting to the POP server. When I attempt to send email, I get the following message: "Sending of the message failed. "Failed due to unexpected error 80004005. No description is available. "The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtpauth.earthlink.net for an unknown reason. "Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

I've double checked the settings within TB for Earthlink. I've read the connection problem / solutions. I turned off the Firewall as an experiment (still could not receive email). I started my iMac in safe mode to further test whether there was interference between Norton antivirus and TD. And, got a result. TB connected to Earthlink and received all the emails on the server; I could send email w/o error.

Given the state of maleware, etc., it's silly to run w/o antivirus.

What I think I want to do is to roll back to the previous edition of TB ... which appeared to be working. Unless, of course, a update of TB that fixes this particular issue in the near future.

So, what do I do to get myself up and running again?

Hi All, This started about a week ago. I start Thunderbird (78.10.2) on my Mac (OS X 10.11.6, El Capitan) and get the spinning blue ball. Regardless of which email account, nothing loads, I can't access email, I can't receive email, I can't send email. Thunderbird had been working fine for years and I haven't changed any settings. The issue is not with the mail server since webmail works fine. I'm stumped. Any help or advise will be greatly appreciated since e-mail is crucial and I'm not a fan of outlook or Apple mail.

Good day, Last week I updated Thunderbird to version 78.10.1 and since then Text Encoding in all of my incoming letters is messed up. Every time I receive a letter, I have to do "View > Text Encoding" and try out 3, sometimes 4 different options before I see the email without hieroglyphs. Whenever I switch to a different letter, I have to do the same thing with every letter, even with the ones I read a second ago. Whenever I need to print out an incoming letter, encoding is messed up in Print Preview. I receive letters in 4 different languages - English, Russian, Latvian and sometimes German. Due to this reason setting one type of Text Encoding option won't fix the issue. In this regard I have two questions:

  1. 1 Why all of a sudden text encoding messed up after an update?
  2. 2 How do I fix it?

I'm using Thunderbird 78.10.1 (64bit) on Windows 10 Pro. The app keeps jamming with a message in the menu bar: Not Responding Also, when I open Thunderbird, Windows Program Compatibility Assistant (PCA) gives me continuous alerts that "an app can't run on this device". Have you had this problem before? I was going to try to switch to 32bit Thunderbird to see whether or not the problem goes away. Can I just delete this version of tbird and install the other version without losing my profile and email messages?

That leads to the error in the attached photo. Editing or updating the SMTP settings has no effect.

New emails will not load when TB is started. After much trial and error I figured out that if I got rid of the stored password and then didn't click to remember it, new emails appeared as soon as the password is entered. New emails thereafter will not load until the program is closed and reopened and password is entered once again. Once I click to save password, new emails will not appear, and clicking on "get messages" silently does nothing. Outgoing email asks for password to be entered too, and sure enough it sends as soon as the password is entered.

I have been in contact with the email server and made sure all server info and port #'s are as they should be. We also verified that using the web-portal for the email through a browser works just fine, no issues. Coworker is on an IMAP email server.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Apparently this an issue that has been going on for a few weeks/months but just on his 2 windows computers and 1 Android tablet. Email works fine on iphone as well as the web. Thanks!

I did however find something interesting in the store.json.mozlz4 file where it states... the following

All my headers in the emails are still 100% as I can see the dates, however not sure what happend

I have not been able to login to Thunderbird since 4/22/2021. Whenever I open Thunderbird, I get an error message about my password (please see attached photo). When I insert my password (the same one I've had since 2017), it does not accept it and shows me the same error message again. I can, however, successfully login to my AT&T email account on a web browser, using that same password.

I've already tried deleting my password and resetting it (which did not work). I've also already tried changing my authentication method to Oauth2, but then I received an error message that "the IMAP server does not support the selected method".

I pruned the drafts mailbox (deleted some old messages) in case that's it. No luck. I just see "copying message to drafts folder", the progress bar looks full (100%) but the highlight still moves from L to R (image) I repaired the drafts mailbox - no luck Stuck now, ideas please.      I am using thunderbird with pop3 settings. recently i can't able to read my inbox messages and i cant get messages in inbox so i configured my account in outlook to view upcoming inbox mails our mail server crashed on november 2020 we cant retrive previous messages i can only map with mail server from november 2020 but now i need 2019 messages please help me to get those messages and help me to view inbox.

Thunderbird e-mail downloading worked fine until morning of Friday, May 14. When I opened Thunderbird that morning, e-mails in the queue did not download. After a minute or two I received the following error message on the screen: "The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving message. Mail server pop3.frontier.com responded [SYS/TEMP] Server error-Please try again later"

I clicked on OK and the message disappeared. Every time I have tried to download e-mail on Thunderbird since May 14 I receive the same message. It is now Sunday evening, May 16.

I contacted Frontier tech support this morning. After checking the account settings, the tech support said that the inbound e-mail server address was correct and all other settings were correct. He suggested that I contact Thunderbird, hence this inquiry. I use Firefox 88.0.1 64 bit; Thunderbird 78.10.1 32 bit; Windows 10 Pro v. 20H2

Complete settings for AT&T/Yahoo/Bellsouth

It appears to be a combination of AT&T's latest security protocol "Security Key" and Thunderbird's release "78" that is causing issues.

We have two separate email accounts with additional identities that exhibiting the same problems. Without making any changes at the time, the identities quit receiving emails. One worked in the morning and stopped working in the afternoon, the identity in the other computer quit a couple of months ago. Now besides not receiving identity emails, neither account can send email.

The error message says sending of the password failed. I can log into both accounts and all the identities through Yahoo webmail and can send and receive emails just fine. The same is true for our email accounts on our iPhones, they never skipped a beat. One computer is win10 and the other win7 Professional.

The email is set up as "pop". What's a little different is that we have the older Bellsouth email account that is through Yahoo which is through AT&T. AT&T has been zero help with the settings.

I even hired an IT guy to have a try at it. He warned me that he has been through this before with other customers and it boils down to giving up Thunderbird, he couldn't get anywhere.

I really don't want to switch from Thunderbird, with my line of work I have a lot of folders with lots of emails I can't lose. Up to this point, Thunderbird has been great! And I really like its ease of use and functionality.

Please help! This is driving me nuts!
