I would be grateful if there is an answer to exporting the Thunderbird address book not in the .csv format into my Win 10 downloads file. I have had a new PC and had a nightmare sorting out my address book. A CSV app restored them but all over the place and have spent hours sorting the name and email addresses. I have tried copy and paste, no luck. Tried all the five 'save as types' but again no real success. I want save them in a simpler fashion. The CS Charset, CS UTF-8, Tab D Charset,Tab UTF-8, V card and LDIF all failed Many thanks Kind regards Alan Jones

I have lost my computer in a lightning strike and had Thunderbird on the old one. I use Linux mint and Thunderbird was preinstalled. But I can't use it because it always asks me for a password. I never used a password on my old computer and so I am stuck with using the web based email. What is the problem? Were do I get that password from? Do I need it at all?

In the email client I have just come from the Unread folder contains all unread messages irrespective of the folder they might be in. The Unread filter in Thunderbird appears to relate only to the highlighted folder. I have many folders, the list being long not all are visible on the 'home' view. This means that messages in folders far down the list are only visible if I scroll down looking for them. Is there a way to modify the Unread filter to ensure that all folders are searched for unread messages and displayed together? I am using TB 91.8.1.

I am closing out an old cable company account, but want to use Thunderbird to download and save my email from this account before closing it. Will closing this account (POP3), which would delete the emails from the host server, in any way affect my copy of those emails?

Once the account is cancelled, can I stop Thunderbird from trying to access the host server for email updates?

Am I correct in assuming I can't delete the non-existent email account from Thunderbird if I want to keep the emails from that account on my computer?

Thank you.

You Sent me a notice about the "New" Thunderbird . I am Not impressed - I want The Features of "Account Colors" being able to set or change "Fonts" in the Thread and Reading Pane. I would me more impressed with a Thunderbird that looked more dressed up and then I would be inclined to make a "Donation". > jbuck406@suddenlink > Thanks!

I have recently moved from Outlook to Thunderbird as Outlook developed a problem communicating with my Virgin Media email accounts. I am slowly finding my way around Thunderbird, but am experiencing a problem with some of my sub folders. This only applies to Virgin Media accounts.

I have looked at previous questions on a similar topic and have tried the simpler solutions (the ones applying to advanced users are Greek to me)! Unfortunately, they haven't solved my problem.

If I go to account settings and uncheck the "show only subscribed folders" box, the greyed out sub folder disappear. However, right-clicking on the folder heading and selecting subscribe and attempting to subscribe to the folders there, doesn't work.

Is there a simple process I can go through to access these sub folders?

I cannot sent email to one specific recipient. I have two accounts, one through gmail and one through AT&T. When I try and sent an email to this one recipient from either account, the File/Send Now function is grayed out. Ctrl-Enter does not work either. This is the only recipient I cannot send mail to. I've sent test email to several other recipients with no problem. Obviously, I'm not getting any kind of 'email blocked' type of message, since nothing is being sent out.

My Thunderbird version is 91.9.0 (32-bit)

Any ideas why this is happening?

TIA for any help.

I am trying to add a new gmail account to Thunderbird but when I enter my address and password, a pop up appears in which I need to enter mail address at google. I do this, but it seems to just re-prompt me.

I have attached images of the steps taken to try to add the gmail account:

tb1.png: I enter name, address, password. tb2.png: TB validates this and adds some server info. tb3.png: a popup opens and my address is pre entered. I click the blue button. tb4.png: I am reprompted for my email address. I can enter my address again and again and click blue button but I am re prompted every time. Seems impossible to proceed from here.

If I can open this pop URL in a proper browser to inspect what is going wrong, I could probably fix this issue. However, TB will not let me copy the URL from the address bar which is frankly user hostile behavior :(

I have tried doing this on several different internet connections as well as tried disabling pihole, etc. So that does not seem to be the cause.

I don't know why. But all of a sudden, the emails I have through GoDaddy (which is Office365) stopped working. The settings haven't changed, and they're congruent with what the sync settings are when I open the email account in Outlook online.

IMAP, outlook.office365.com, Port 993, SSL/TLS, Normal Password smtp.office365.com, Port 587, STARTTLS, Normal Password

When I try to send an email I get the message:

"Login to server smtp.office365.com with username jason@ectpedicab.com failed."

It asks to retry or enter a new password. But the password is correct, and this message keeps coming back.

When I hit cancel, I get this message:

"Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'."

I'm at my wits' end. This has all worked just fine for literally years. I don't know what the problem is.

HALP!

Recently, and not for the first time, Thunderbird sent an automatic reply which thankfully bounced. However I couldn't find the offending email when searching for this address. Using a third party tool, namely Agent Ransack aka FileLocator Lite, I found the folder and hence the email.

How can I do this within Thunderbird. I can only select To, From, Cc and/or Bcc. Not Reply-To.

Can anyone let me know if this is possible, if so how?

I completely rebuilt my system. Processor, MB SSD,s etc. When I reinstalled Thunderbird, and set up the connection to GMail, it started downloading messages from 2012.... Obviously, I don't need or want those messages. I've cleared the trash & spam folders at Gmail online, so I really don't know where these messages are being dredged up from. How do I tell T-Bird to only grab the last years worth of email messages?

Please change the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing Server (SMTP)'." Can you help? Was on the phone with Frontier for an hour - they say incoming settings are correct (no problem receiving emails), as well as outgoing. We tested sending an outgoing message from their webmail server, which was successful. Thanks, dbleagle
