Hello, Linux environment is running on my chromebook, thunderbird has been installed. 2 issues: - When I try to install an extension, I always get a message "This extension will have permission to have unlimited access to thunderbird and the computer". and I'm stuck. The add button does not trigger any action. This does the same thing if I want to install a dictionary from the settings. - I have no access shared folders like my Drive on my Chromebook, despite having Linux sharing enabled. 1: - Thunderbird moved the top menu bar to the left, now has unreachable buttons at the bottom due to negative interactions with other menus and window manager => tried many forums, but all changes to ./chrome/userChrome.css are ignored. 2: - the quick filter button was moved from the toolbar to an individual bar, adding one new line above message list, reducing the vertical space for content 3: - new management of borders have negative interactions with window manager (tried both options, with and without decoration, both are ... BAD). making it impossible for window manager to properly resize window magnet to other windows 4: - there are large sensibility zones for decoration management catched by TB that make some buttons unreachable in the left bar, and the window manager gadgets i have below (quick launch and desktop management) 5: - there is a new sensibility zone between the top menu bar and the top decoration of windows that give access to some window manager menu, useless at this place, and it reduced the vertical sensibility zone of the buttons, making the click box smaller, and reducing the effective size of buttons, making them harder to click 6: - the unread message count which used to be a nice light blue is now white in a dark grey box, catching the eye more than necessary, slowing me down, and increasing my brain work to focus on what i need to do. also this value is unconsistent; my inbox is curretly shown with 411 total messages, and 630 unread. If i unfold the folder in left column, it seems i have only 89 unread in inbox, and 2 in one subflder, but, to me, 89+2 is not equal to 630. 7: - the file/edit/view menu bar is now BELOW the actions buttons Get/Write/Reply ... 8: - if I roll up the TB windows in the top decoration, any mouse click in the place where the win used to be remains inefficient. So, TB completely broke E17. A shaded win still occupies the screen as if it's unshaded, and more (about 20 pixels below the bottom decoration). 9: - It's 20y the message list was aligned on the top message, so I always made that box half a message taller than an exact message line height multiple, so that the half line white space was a proof I was at the bottom of the list. Now, the list is aligned bottom, and the top line is shown half. I now have no way to know if i am in middle on bottom of list (plus lift is now auto hide).

i don't have any screenshot from previous version for reference. And half issues are bad interactions with E17 about magnetism, and size of click boxes, and this can't be shown on screenshots; even videos would not help if you can't feel it physically, or never used E17 yourself in the past; you can't know how it used to behave.

All these changes have an intense negative impact on my work speed. They slow me down.

TB had almost not changed in 20y of use, but these changes, at the same time, with so many consequences on window manager ... I can't stand it. 20y of habits lost in one evening. Not something you can change at my age.

I have seen only one improvement (bug fix) in recent TB: "save all" attachements works now fine from the menu under the message, and we no longer need to use Save All from top menus (regression bug between TB 1.2 and 1.5, IIRC).

My pEp has been working fine for a year or so. I last used it about 1month ago, i did an OS update on my mac a week ago.... Today pEp stopped working saying internal error when trying to send a pEp message. See attachment.

I can send non pEp emails fine, I can receive non pEp emails fine. I am unable to decrypt pEp msgs atm.

I started out by trying to remove the extension. That failed so i had to remove via finder, library folder>profile etc…

reinstalled no change.

Uninstalled thunderbird, reinstalled thunderbird, reinstalled pEp. No change.

OS - Montery 12.6 Thunderbird - 102.4.2 (64-bit) pEp - 1.1.114

I have sent an email to pEp support, but my question to this forum is:

I used the troubleshoot mode, i left extension on and when it restarted it showed the extension as "on". However the extension did not run so i could not review the fault condition relating to the internal error.

I am certainly not an expert on the troubleshoot process but i was hoping that I may have gained some more info about the "internal error" message that may help.

Am i missing something in the process or should I expect the ext to work and give me something to work with?

Thunderbird persitently defaults to old gmail account upon startup

I have four Gmail accounts which I'm phasing out because of the absurd Google policies and convolutions. I've added four new accounts with another, my own mail hosting service. all the four Gmail accounts I have set to forward all to thee new accounts.

The problem is every time I start up Thunderbird it defaults stubbornly to the previous Gmail account which subsequently it cannot log in and for a password.

I tried everything, setting the other account as default account, unchecking server settings [i.e.check for new messages at start up].

Since I have much (downloaded) information still in subfolders that I need to access from time to time I have not yet deleted that account.

Nothing seems to work, every time I start Thunderbird it immediately goes to that previous default Gmail account and then prompts me for "mail server password required".

The strange thing is that the other remaining three Gmail accounts which have identical settings do not create a problem.

how can I make this stop for once and for all?

SO WHY DID THUNDERBIRD DECIDE TO STOP WORKING TODAY? Fortunately I can still get the email within Webmail, but I prefer not to do that, since all my folders aren't set up there. Any ideas what caused this and more importantly, how can I fix it? I do have the latest version of TB.

The images show that it just sits there for a long time trying to send and then the other shows the resulting error message.

In or around TB 91.3.1 double-clicking on an event, you get a dialog box such as the attached. In order to edit the event, you have to hit the Edit button. In the past, TB would just open the event and allow you to edit it. If the event was recurring then, and only then, would a small dialog box come up to ask if you were editing just this event or all events. I see no advantage to this extra dialog box, especially for one-time-only events. It's just another unnecessary click of the mouse.

How do I make happen, that I sync the calendars in both Thunderbirds constantly, i.o.w. instantly (like for example the iMAP emails do)??

I find the option for new calendars: "On the network" ... Which network is here meant??? In the help there is not much info about it. I am not using and will not use Google or any kind of "social media" (!)

Can I use my own homepage host (which has some webspace left) in order to sync? Or for example an online storage like mega.nz ?

Or could the both macs just sync the thunderbird calendars just via WiFi/WLAN directly (AirDrop ?) or via Bluetooth ??

It would be so great if calendar sync would be as easy as the emails do!

I don't have a lot of internal hard drive space and want to have Thunderbird store emails to an external hard drive. So, I have a few questions about this.

Q1: How do I do this? I saw a procedure on a non-Mozilla site and it seemed questionable to me. So I thought it would be best to get the procedure from here

Q2: When I move the files (not copying them) will this impact the emails online (Gmail and Yahoo)? I don't want to accidentally delete them from the server

Q3: I am concerned about the following scenario: I tell Thunderbird to use the external drive. Thunderbird starts to download emails to the external drive. What happens to the emails that are on the internal drive? does Thunderbird move them to the external drive? Or will I have to move them manually? Can I safely move email folders on top of folders of the same name without messing anything up? (I'm concerned that Thunderbird would not know that a previously downloaded folder exists and would start to download it in the new spot. So when I move the folders from the old spot to the new spot, it would overlay the new copy and I don't want that to mess anything up)

I hope my questions make sense. I'm not always clear about how I ask things

I just updated Thunderbird. So, I'm running the latest version. I'm using Windows 10 (old computer)

Thunderbird auto updating to 102 even after putting all hacks in to NOT update

Have used Thunderbird for years, decades even, on multiple PC's, family and friends, and home PC's. Even donated a few times over those years but this one has me stumped… (funda kabanzi)

Have used Thunderbird for years, decades even, on multiple PC's, family and friends, and home PC's. Even donated a few times over those years but this one has me stumped and honestly a bit miffed.

I got 102 update and it completely broke my 2 POP and 1 IMAP accounts. New Passwords, cleared files, all the business you find here and online. Saw someone revert back to v91 which I had prior. Did that, worked like a charm and the prior existing accounts that did NOT work; started working again instantly. Proves I had the right accounts/passwords.

Next day, launch TB and it's updated again to 102; hmm. Downgrade again a second time on 2 PC's and go my business. It's now been 4 days and I've put registry keys in, used Config Editor and did all the "do not auto update" things I've read and still, today after a long and wicked day; I find starting TB it's yet again auto updated to 102.

Help please? I'm an IT guy of over 30 years and this one has me stumped and doing side-eye and I don't like it. Is there an honest and true way to NOT UPDATE to 102? Sorry, upset and have never had an issue *ever* with TB these years but this one is quite annoying downgrading daily.

IONOS on 29/01/2024 require emails sent via SMTP to be from the domain of the email. eg 111.com, 222.com & 333.com I have three domains with ionos so I need to be able to logon using three different users. eg fred@111.com, bert@222.com & jim@333.com all to SMTP.ionos.co.uk BUT Thunderbird appears to only allow ONE USER for each SMTP server. Attempting to change user changes ALL instances of logon to smtp.ionos.com. "Action Required: Update Your Email Settings By 28.01.2024

Dear all, I have a couple of calendars on the disk as network calendars (file:///...ics) with offline support, and I just realized that I cannot delete any event. These calendars are not read-only, I can see the option delete, both with right-click on the event and double-click to edit the event, but after pressing delete, the event remains on the calendar. Just pressing the delete button on the keyboard after selecting the event has the same behaviour. If I try shift the events from one calendar to the other, they do appear in the new calendar, but they do not disappear from the old. I have restarted Thunderbird, and also tried this on another computer with the same results. Both szstems are Windows 11, Th underbird 115.10.1 I would be very grateful for any suggestions

I'd like to be able to configure the format of numbered lists, both for a particular list in an email, and as a default template that will apply to all future emails that I compose.

I can find no documentation on how numbered lists are supposed to work. Mine are currently giving me roman numerals at all levels, e.g.

1. Top level

 1.  Next level
   1.  Lower level

I've come across some interesting options, including particularly https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/que.../1052897, which I've tried, but it doesn't work for me.

Please help!
