Hi! I see 60.2.1 has been released three days ago. My TB 52.9.1 (64-bit) still shows no update available. I'm on the release channel with automatic update enabled. I also have restarted TB several times with no change. I haven't changed any update related settings. I have Lightning but I don't use it. I'm running TB on CentOS 7 64bit with all latest patches.

What could be the reason? Thanks! I know I could just download 60.2.1 and manually update. But I want to understand what prevents my 52.9.1 from updating and whether this will affect my future auto updates.

Recently I started having a problem where Thunderbird simply stops working. It won't get mail. I click on "Get Messages" but nothing happens. The status bar remains blank. No messages saying connecting to server, or checking inbox for mail. Nothing. I have to reboot the computer to get it to work again. I'm running 3 flavors of Linux (Ubuntu, Linux Mint and Linux Lite). I've had the problem in all 3 OS's. I also run Windows10 (as I am at the moment). I have not had that specific problem in Windows yet, but I just went to send a short email and the "Sending message" progress bar was fully green but the dialog box just kept sitting there doing nothing. I had to close the dialog box and hit "Send" again before it finally succeeded. Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm using Thunderbird 52.9.1 to access several email accounts in Ubuntu 18.04. It has alwaws worked well, but in the last few days it fails. After opening Thunderbird it shows a message: "Failed to connect to server imap.gmail.com". It keeps trying to update the inbox (Outlook, Gmail, etc.) without success. When I close the program, a new window appears everytime to report a crash to Mozilla.

Do you know how to solve this problem?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I get an upgrade message several times daily to go from TB 31.7 to 48.0. I have tried this from the message and thru software mgr. and from Ubuntu repository. I've also downloaded tar.bgz of 48 and 52 and run from the created directory in different parent directory (Desktop in this case). After upgrading TB to either works fine but calendar freezes app then screen pixelates and I have to force shutdown. The latest version that still works is TB 31.7 and Lightning addon 3.3.3 which I've downloaded into the directory "home>Downloads>Thunderbird", then installed the lightening .xpi. I've had to experiment with the combos that will work and the above aare the ones With higher versions of TB and lightening (the "approved" add-on) I get the freezing issue. I have removed lightning addon and installed xul-lightning from repository. Problem still persists. I thought that either of those higher versions had the calendar integrated but it is not unless the addon is enabled. TB 48 or 52 run fine except for the calendar. I have Provider 3.3 and gContactSync 2.0.12. I have no idea if there is a problem with either of those. Have thought that it could be my profile and calendar data. I haven't tried renaming profile and then upgrade and add my profile back after TB upgrade generates a new one (which I'll delete and replace with my current profile. Maybe then calendar will run? I had read some post in some forum that described something like that.

Thunderbird updated to 60.2.1 and Lightning disappeared. I followed the guidance in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/calendar-updates-issues-thunderbird, and got Lightning back (V6.2.2.1). However, in Get Add-ons, it is still grayed out and listed as "incompatible with your version of Thunderbird", which is a bit disconcerting. My life is in my calendar, and I can't afford compatibility issues.

Is this just a matter of the add-ons library not having the most up-to-date version (or a bad compatibility checker), but what was somehow magically reloaded into my Thunderbird is completely fine? Or is the latest version that has been reloaded actually still incompatible in some way, and I'm waiting for the other shoe to fall with problems that will turn up later?

I have used Thunderbird for a few years and never had a problem until now. I am on Linux Mint and I updated to Thunderbird 60.2.1 I just launched it and the calendar (lightning) is no longer compatible with this version, this is stupid, the calendar feature is an important and integral part of any email system! I have six months of appointments, tasks and events just wiped out why update when something important like the calendar is not going to work. Can this be fixed? if not Thunderbird is no longer fit for purpose.

I don't want to have to start messing around installing an earlier version

Hello,

After upgrading my Thunderbird install to version 60.2.1 on my Xubuntu 18.04 machine, I cannot access my mail anymore, because there seems to be a problem with passwords.

Symptoms:

- When starting Thunderbird, I get an "Enter your password" box for each of my accounts even though I had my passwords saved.

- When I go to Preferences -> Security -> Passwords -> Saved Passwords, the list is empty.

- When I try to enter a password and save it, it does not actually get saved and Thunderbird will ask again soon after.

- The following line is logged to console a whole bunch of times:

JavaScript error: jar:file:///usr/lib/thunderbird/omni.ja!/components/crypto-SDR.js, line 179: NS_ERROR_FAILURE: Couldn't decrypt string

Other findings:

- Downgrading Thunderbird to 52.7.0 fixes the problem. The old saved passwords just reappear again and Thunderbird has no problem logging in.

- Starting Thunderbird 60.2.1 on a Windows 10 box with exactly the same profile folder works fine. It can read the passwords and access my mail accounts.

Can you please tell me what to do to fix this, so I don't need to keep using an old version of Thunderbird just to access my mail?

Thanks,

-I'm using Ubuntu 14.04. -In November, 2018, Comcast/Xfinity changed a few of their email settings, eg POP3 port 110 changed to 995. They also mentioned that they prefer we don't use POP3 any more. It's moot, though! -In November, I suddenly stopped being able to receive. I've had their tech people help me set up as either POP3 or IMAP and neither works. After an hour (over two hours yesterday) they always end up saying it's Mozilla's problem. -I've uninstalled Thunderbird several times, including deleting hidden files that contained remnants. -I usually get the message ""Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account." -Other attempts give me "Configuration could not be verified - is the username or password wrong?", or "User name or password invalid." That is wrong! -On Xfinity's site, I can both send and receive directly from there. They claim this proves the problem is with you. -I'm suspicious that Comcast/Xfinity has changed their setup and Thunderbird hasn't been updated.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04 and Thunderbird, and i need to find a way of getting Thunderbird to show me what password it is using for each of my e-mail accounts - and how I can change those passwords without deleting the old account and setting up new ones.

I have some similar answers to similar issues, but those require that I go to "Tools" - "options" - and further from there, but I cannot find any "Options" menu anywhere in my version of Thunderbird. However, this shows me that this information must be possible to access somehow, also in my version.

Any help would be appreciated.

the original local directory wich i changed was </home/jl/.thunderbird/vot5hfmb.default/Mail/pop.ziggo.nl>

how to i recover the full content of the inbox, the full content of the sent folder and and all the archived mail?

I am trying to setup Thudnerbird to retrieve my Outlook365 emails from the University.

The software has been able to validate the servers, IMAP and SMTP, however when testing I receive an error message saying the the "Username or Password is invalid".

I don't know how much this relates but I am afraid the Micorosoft accounts through school use some kind of double authentication or similar.

Any help will be greatly appreciate it.
