Set up your existing email address will not work. Thunderbird stopped working no outgoing no incoming. Deleted account then downloaded new Thunderbird. Entering correct name, correct email address and password (also tried with no password) finds set up on Mozilla ISP sever. Select 'Done' brings up message "Cannot log in to server.Probably wrong configuration, username or password".

This unsolvable for me now as I have tried everything I know and suggested in Help.

Thunderbird runs slow...ie when I type an email I can easily type faster than thunderbird will accept characters....(this does not happen in other applications)...this happened about a month ago, and then stopped ( I have no idea why)...but the problem is back. I am running Ver 115.10.0 build 2024012173147. Rebooting windows 11 makes no difference.... I just tried to enter Troubleshoot mode and thunderbird stopped responding....Top line says Mozilla Thunderbird (Not Responding). Thunderbird is connected to my gmail account. ...and I run IMAP....with 'store all messages on the computer', but thunderbird wants to load every email from the server'

I've tried everything, including setting it to filter an empty folder instead of my inbox. But it still defaults back to filtering the inbox every time it restarts. I'm trying to stop filtering to debug why my email keeps hanging. I have 800 filters so I don't want to uncheck 800 boxes. There should be an option to turn off filtering temporarily, or to uncheck all the boxes at once.

Here in Jan 2024 suddenly TB will no longer connect to any hotmail or outlook..it says I have to enter a new password but I have not changed my password and can get onto them if I go directly to that site. Any suggestions?

I added my AOL email account to Thunderbird. My AOL email account still receives email messages. Thunderbird receives no AOL email messages. How do I solve this problem? Thank you for your help. Don Cohen dbcohen@verizon.net

A man who i used to be able to hire to help me with computer problems, added Thunderbird to my computer - over a decade ago. He's no longer available for hire and i am so frustrated with problems with Thunderbird, i'm about to quit and revert to using Gmail directly. I MUCH prefer Thunderbird, but it crashes often. And recently many 1000's of emails disappeared and when i checked my gmail account directly to see if they're all gone from there, too - i can't figure that out. I've tried reading some of the helpful answers in the support community, but don't get very far - i don't understand computer vocabulary. And yet i'm on line, using emails many hours every day, for volunteer work, and can't keep up with that. It's kind of like my dependency on my car, but i can't fix my car problems, either. I'd be happy to pay a reasonable price (i'm on a fixed income) for help, if anyone can recommend. The few local computer professionals i've contacted locally, don't use Thunderbird.

Hi there, Am having a problem sending emails from both of the accounts on Thunderbird. Attached is the msg that appears. I have checked my server settings and they appear to be correct.

I've been using Thunderbird for a number of years. I recently went back to using Windows from Linux, and am having difficulty with the Windows version of Thunderbird. The issue is when I go to set up my gmail accounts, I get a box popping up that should show my google account so I log in through there, but it hangs and never moves past. The pics below shows both the window that pops up that never changes and the server settings.

I've let it sit for up to an hour but nothing changes.

I've looked and haven't seen this question elsewhere, so I figure it must be something on my end. I'm using Thunderber 91.9.1 on Windows 11 Home OS build 22000.675. I'm not using any sort of VPN, and I've tried with Windows firewall both on and off, no changes.

My wife's C; drive is nearly full, and part of the problem is the TB Roaming folder under AppData under Users. On my PC this folder is 16MB, but on my wife's is over 35GB!

How can I reduce the size of this folder?

Ever since I upgraded Thunderbird to version 102.6.1, I keep getting the message "unable to write the email to the mailbox in Thunderbird"

There's plenty of disk space and permissions haven't been changed. And then I tried creating a new profile, and it worked until I shut down the PC for the night, and in the morning, the problem recurred in the new profile too.

This is greatly hampering my work, so please help me.

I have donated to Thunderbird and will continue to do so if this problem can be resolved.

Thank you for your help! I have been using Thunderbird for 5-6 years now and just last night any emails I send to my Gmail contacts gets bounced back. They can send me emails but I can not loner send them emails. I receive the below message which it looks like the issues is DKIM and SPF. I am not tech savvy so I have no idea how to fix this. I switched my email host and am trying to change the account settings in Thunderbird. When I change the server name a popup appears and asks me to restart or cancel. It doesn't let me continue to change any of the other server settings. Selecting either option changes the server name back to the original.

So I delete the email account and its smtp server. When I restart they both reappear. When I add a new email account and smtp server, it disappears when I restart.

When I select Help/Troubleshooting Information the deleted accounts are gone from under Mail And News Accounts. When I restart Thunderbird, the deleted accounts and server returns.

I changed the settings for a different email account that is on a different host last summer with no problems. Thanks

I added all my office emails to my home computer. At home they all work perfectly to receive but not to send. The server configurations are the same as at my office and they work perfectly there.

The name of the outgoing server is smtp.oedim.com and I have already used ports 25, 587, 465 and 2525 to test. The message I receive is the following:

"Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Unable to relay to egon@oedim.com. Please check the message recipient "egon@oedim.com" and try again."

I used the email I was sending from as the recipient, but this error happens for any existing valid email. I've tried many of them.

Can anyone help with this problem?

Thunderbird 115.0 (though also happened on 102), M2 macbook pro; OS up to date.

On AC & battery, thunderbird uses up huge amounts of power sporadically in its background activity, taking up ~50-80% of processor power & hundreds of gb virtual memory (see activity monitor screenshot attached). Computer gets pretty hot to touch with thunderbird on, which I don't see with other apps. Troubleshooting info below.

This has been happening for several months now, since I switched to thunderbird & was hoping it would resolve at 115. I can't find any correlation with other usage patterns of the computer (ie I dont think it's correlated with idle usage, but not willing to stage reputation on that).

Sometimes crashes while performing a search. Sometimes crashes when I right Click right click menu doesn´t show. When I right click I get a lickering of the right click menu but I can't use it. I suspect it might have to do with Wayland

Fedora 38 thunderbird-115.3.1-1.fc38.x86_64

I just upgraded from 102 to 115. I lost my ability for display "unified folders" in both regular mode and safe-mode.

Clicking on view->folders->unified unchecks the second I click off it.

I manually set about:config unified to true: made no difference. But it stays at true and still shows off in view, folders.

I need my unified folders back!

Hi, My Thunderbird freezes everytime it checks for new mails. I am running a 16 Macbook Pro. This error appeared in v.102.4.0, it was fixed in v.102.4.1 but it came back in v.102.4.2. Thanks in advance for your help. Best, Ignacio.

Dear Mozilla Support, I use Thunderbird 102.4.2 (64-bit) on a mac with MacOS Catilina 10.15.7. I normally use two identities with two different outgoing server configuration. All of a sudden one of the two identities can not send mails anymore and I get the following error:

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) submission.unipi.it was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again.

I have already tried updating to the last Thunderbird version, checking the outgoing server configuration (however I know it was working) and I checked the communication with the port 587 and it correctly answers. I have attached the Outgoing server configuration.

First thanks for helping. I'm an old man with computer knowledge that ended with a computer science degree in 1984 which I haven't used since. So I have a general idea but it's forty years old... I'm using Thunderbird 115.7.0 (64-bit) on a 2021 Dell Alienware computer with the 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz processor and 64 GB of RAM using Microsoft Windows 11 Pro Version 22H2 OS Build 22621.3007... I also have McAfee LiveSafe Virus Protection software installed: Version 114.212 Release Name 16.0 R114 Affid 20327 Antivirus Build 1.1.2569.0 Content Creation Date 01/25/2024 Content Version 1665.0 Secure VPN Build 9 Version 1.14... Here's the problem... When I try to download my emails the computer goes into super duper slow motion. I also have a wired wifi connection that's the fastest Spectrum offers and almost nothing else shares it so it's usually very fast. I also get Thunderbird error messages (i should have screen shots sorry) about not being able to read something or other or write to some folders and perhaps needing permission. As an aside, I'm the only user of the computer so no permissions are ever needed. Also, this only happens when I first turn on the computer and there are a number of emails to download. Once I've downloaded the bulk email and I later check or it automatically checks, it will download the one or two messages slowly but without errors... Thanks again, I hope someone can help...
