Hello, My Firefox browser seems to be hanging up and not opening websites. This has never happened in my entire time with Firefox. It just began this week. I use it for the security that it always provides. Its ran fine until this week when the warnings came out about issues with Google. Is there a patch or any suggestions for a remedy? Thank you for such an awesome, secure browser!

There has been an odd issue with my audio while using YouTube on Firefox, random stuttering that wasn't there before.

I use JBL Tune 525BT headphones and I never had this problem before. I have tried:

  • Resetting my headphones
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox
  • Turning my headphones off and reconnecting them
  • Uninstalling some extensions

As well as resetting my phone, but nothing seemed to help with the stuttering. It isn't a problem with my internet, I have triple checked and it isn't a problem with my headphones either, as audio on apps such as:

  • YouTube music
  • Spotify
  • SoundCloud

Has no stutter.

There's also another thing: Whenever I enter YouTube, the 'Open in another app' pop-up appears, even though it never did that before.

I'm not sure what the issue is, as the problem randomly appeared and I'm not fully sure how to fix it and I've tried multiple times already. If anyone knows how to fix it or even what the problem is, their insights would be greatly appreciated! Much thanks.

I have a Samsung Phone 2024 with Firefox installed and set as my default browser. Firefox is my default browser on my PC, has been for a very long time and always will be. The only way I have found to check for Firefox updates on my Phone is to enable and open Google Play Store. This is not a complaint or serious issue. Only a tiny bit inconvenient. Thank you. Shaun. Hi there,

I am using Fennec from F-Droid (build 1340020). I noticed that many Brahmic scripts on webpages are shown as boxes. I don't recall seeing this in early versions maybe years ago.

Notably all major scripts in India like Devanagari, Tamil, Telugu can not be rendered. However, Odia and Sinhala scripts are shown fine. Outside India, Tibetan script cannot be rendered either. However, SEA scripts like Thai, Burmese are fine.

Moreover, if I copy these boxes to the search bar, the actual content can be shown. The tab view can also show the title of the webpage correctly in Bramic scripts. And if I change the locale in the settings, the UI of Fennec app can also properly display the scripts.

To further debug, I went to the about:config and search for fonts. Unlike western or CJK scripts, the value of font.default of Bramic scripts is serif rather than san-serif. The default value of font.name-list of these Bramic scripts are just Noto Sans or Noto Serif. I tried to switch between serif and san-serif but got no luck.

I was wondering how to fix this issue. Thanks!

I've been noticing lately that when watching a video in landscape orientation fullscreen every now and then the screen rotates back to portrait orientation. Note that I do not touch the phone when this happens nor is there any bump or other even minor movement.

I also noticed that simply pausing and playing the video fixes this.

I have a short screen capture video but I can't attach videos to this.

I realize that if a file is served with mime type Content-Type: application/pgp-encrypted, then its extension is changed by Firefox on Android to ".pgp". Apparently, Firefox for Android likes to modify extensions based on mime type.

Can this behavior be disabled?

Hello,

If the phone is not used for a while, it takes a very long time to open a page in Firefox. The bar immediately goes to about 25% and hangs. When it finally starts, it works. Sometimes it hangs during use, but usually the problem occurs after a long period of inactivity.

What I do know:

  • The problem does not occur with any other browser or application.
  • The problem occurs on different smartphones from different manufacturers running different versions of Android.
  • Deleting and reinstalling Firefox cleanly (without any add-ons) does not help.
  • Same problem over Wi-Fi as over cellular.
  • Turning Firefox off and on again usually does not help.

I installed Waterfox and for a while there was no problem at all. Then it appeared. I noticed that at least in Waterfox, the problem does not occur in private mode.

This is an unresolved issue that has been discussed before. https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1416241
