My Firefox settings are configured to "Open previous windows and tabs" on Startup. This worked fine until this morning, when I lost all of the tabs in my session, including the pinned ones. The last time I closed Firefox, there was only one window open.

I have already tried these ideas to restore the tabs:

  • CTRL+SHIFT+T: Does nothing
  • CTRL+SHIFT+N: Does nothing
  • Three bar menu -> History -> Recently closed tabs: The list is empty
  • Three bar menu -> History -> Recently closed windows: The option is greyed out
  • Three bar menu -> History -> Restore previous session: The option does not exist in the menu
  • Open user profile folder and open sessionstore-backups folder: There are three files named "previous.jsonlz4", "recovery.baklz4" and "recovery.baklz4". They are each 2KB and contain only an empty tab with the URL "about:home". There are three additional files starting with "upgrade" but they are from too long ago, so they don't contain the tabs I require.

The contents of these tabs are vitally important for my work, so this is causing me significant stress. If anyone can suggest ways to recover my previous tab beyond the documented fixes, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much to anyone who can help!

i had some problems with windows services and firewall and network. i installed the tool from tweaking.com( i don't know if it is legit or scam or virus or anything. would appreciate clarification.) after i repaired windows with it some of my apps including firefox did not start and were corrupted. after that i wanted to reinstall firefox and used the helper.exe from the uninstall folder in mozilla firefox folder in drive C. it restarted firefox and all my tabs were gone. i accessed the jason files (recovery,restore,...) and none of them had my tabs. i signed in to my account and all my history and bookmarks are still here but about 100 tabs were lost. i really need those tabs and i am in desperate need for help. thanks ( in no parts of system repair or other actions i have not created a back up and do not have that back up or system restore files)

I am watching a Twitch video on Firefox. When I open a new Firefox tab and drag it to another monitor, the Twitch video skips forwards about a minute.

I also occasionally notice skips or pauses when I switch from one tab in the same window back to the Twitch playing tab.

Is there any way I could fix these problems?

Hello! I'm trying to configure Firefox not to switch from the current tab, when I open multiple bookmarks by either middle click bookmark folder or right click the bookmark folder and select Open All Bookmarks. I've already set about:config browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground True browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground True browser.tabs.loadInBackground True

If I'm browsing a page, and then decide to open several bookmarks that are in a bookmark folder, either via middle click or right click->Open All Bookmarks, Firefox will still switch to the first open bookmark.

I've tried Shift+Middle click and this one opens the bookmarks, without switching from the current tab. And Ctrl+Shift+right click->Open All Bookmarks and this one opens the bookmarks, without switching from the current tab.

So how do I configure Firefox to just use middle click on a bookmark folder, and then not have it switch to the first open bookmark? Thank you!

This is the first time, that an update lost all of my tabs. Is there a way to access previous sessions, other than the most recent one? I would like to access a session from last week, and see if I can get my tabs back. I'm very unhappy about this and I've not been able to restore my tabs. The current tabs are place holders, and they do the reflect what I had before the update.

I just restarted Firefox and, much to my distress, the tabs are now as they were on May 27th (I know this because that is the date in one of the tabs). This means some tabs are open that I closed in the last seven weeks, and all the tabs I opened and kept open in the last seven weeks are gone (in this case all my research). The information is there in history but it would take me hours to reopen all the hundreds of research tabs I opened in the last weeks and then close the ones I already closed as I no longer need them.

Why has it done this? How do I keep it from doing this again? And is there a way to force it to open with the tabs I had open just a few hours ago?

Thank you!

I have Firefox running and have several tabs open. I have checked the proper boxes to save and re-open the tabs from the previous close. This works amazingly well; often for vastly extended periods of time, as in months or years. Then I accidentally close the main window holding the desired tabs while having a second window open with some temporary webpage I was using earlier in the day hidden behind another window. Yes, it's almost not too late to save the mistake but it is often late in the evening and I just don't have the time to remember or find the correct steps to restore the lost tabs. Like what just happened to me at the end of my last session. I try and fail, and then try sleeping! Also, if a tab sits for a few sessions without actually being activated by a mouse click, my experience suggests it is lost from history.

Pease for the love of gawd fix this!!!

There are several obvious choices for the programmers to consider. 1.) close the "main" and all other windows open with Firefox. On restarting Firefox open all the previously open windows. 2.) let the user assign or define a master opening page with the desired web pages set as tabs. Then until 100 thousand years have passed always open this page with the defined tabs as set by the user. :-) 3.) do something else even more magical.

Finally, if anyone can update the steps to restore session tabs for version ~102. I've viewed several Q/A on restoring TABS but they seem to no longer apply. I cannot restore from history, so I'll need to go a little deeper into the woods. Thank you so much!

This morning, I needed to join a Teams meeting. After I'd clicked the link, I was asked if I would allow Microsoft to use my audio and video; I ticked "Allow". But, when I joined the meeting, I found that I could hear and be heard but I couldn't be seen; my video icon refused to react when I tried to get it open. It was only when I came in through Edge that I could be both heard and seen. Is there any way I can get into a Teams meeting through Firefox? (I have downloaded Teams on to my desk top.) Steve

I am wondering if it is at all possible to adjust the settings when pulling a tab into a new window. For example, if I am running Firefox fullscreen I would like the tab that I pull to be opened in windowed form. I noticed that this is typically the case when using Chromium-based browsers, but noticed that on Firefox it stays in the format as the previous window. (if already windowed the pulled tab will also be windowed) is there a way to ensure that the pulled tab will always be windowed?

I want to select multiple Tabs from a bookmark folder to open in the background.

On Chrome this used to be quite easy: Just open the Dropdown, click whichever tabs you wanted to open with the Mousewheel and done.

On Firefox you need to enable new tabs to open in Background first. I managed to find the setting for that with google after a while. You need to go to advanced settings by typing about:config into your url bar.

Then you search for browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInBackground and click "enable".

But this didn't fix the other issue I had, that the dropdown menu always closes as soon as I click anything.

Is there a way so it stays open until I'm done selecting the pages I want?
