Problems with search bar
The search bar recommended menu is almost completely white and its very hard to see. How do I change that and can I get rid of "People also ask" part too?

How can I limit the number of "sites visited" that show when I open Foxfire. The smallest limit I can see is 1 row and even that doesn't work correctly.
Can firefox ask what I want to do with files, like pdf-s which I want to open, not save / download.
My previous issue has been resolved. Thanks
Hello, My Avast Free Antivirus keeps alerting me of the following file that it declares as an Advanced persistent threat. Please see the attached screenshot.

Until recently, when I would capture a PCAP file from a device through the web GUI, I would be able to click on the PCAP (packet capture) file and it would open the file in Wireshark. As of this week, it stopped doing that and now only allows me to save the file and I need to look for the file and double click on it to open the file. I lose a lot of time doing that. Looked at the mime types already installed but there is no pcap to allow me to associate with Wireshark. I am running macOS Monte Rey on an M1 platform. I was working fine before.
Thanks

I am experiencing two critical problems with the latest version of Firefox 98.0
Every 1-2 hours the browser completely refuses to open any connection. It will not even open the local host 127.0.0.1 - The browser is functional, all of the buttons work. It just refuses to connect to anything.
Meanwhile Chrome, Vivaldi, Opera all open every webpage without a problem.
I first encountered this problem with the famous FoxStuck bug. After the bug was revealed and fixed the browser seemed to be working until now.
However since version 98.0 the problem seems to be back.
If I close the browser during these outages I can see several Firefox processes in the task manager. If I open Firefox again I am caught in an endless loop where it keeps saying Firefox is already running.
The only way to use the browser again is to either restart the computer, or shut down each process in the task manager.
Things I have tried to remedy this problem.
Windows System File Check Disabled all Firefox addons Re-installed the browser over ten times - Cleaned out the residual folders Tried the Firefox Extended Support Release builds Disabled all Firefox updates via the policies.json file Virus/Malware scans Tried various about:config switches
This happens on my work PC and on my home PC. I am using two different profiles on each one.
The weird thing is it is sometimes random. Sometimes it occurs once a day, sometimes it occurs multiple times in a day. The outages usually occur from between 2 - 5 minutes.
Tomorrow I will have to uninstall Firefox at work because I work in critical care for a health service. It's vital that we can access information seamlessly without a hitch. I've had to ask patients to wait 5 minutes due to this problem.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is the infamous FoxStuck bug back again?
Try sturdi-built.com it does not display at all in Firefox.. It did perfectly before the latest update....

I do a lot of software troubleshooting where people send me files in discord that end in .cfg or .conf. Up until the latest release, firefox would let me just open them straight in my text editor instead of downloading them, but now it automatically opens the "download to" prompt without asking.
I haven't messed with any settings, and I can replicate the issue on 3 separate computers so I'm fairly certain it has something to do with the firefox update. Is there any workaround?

I recently discovered that even though Firefox is supposed to save files, I chose to either "Open in Firefox" (.pdf, .pptx, etc.) or "Open in <any application>" (.avi, .mp4 in VLC...) in temp folder, it no longer does so. All pdf-s and other files I try to open in Firefox end up in my downloads folder, which is annoying as I now have to clean it manually. This never happened to me before, and I would like to have this behavior back.

I used to do this (after very antique many years ago Firefox) with the about:config line browser.tabs.closeButtons, setting the numeric value to 0. In 98.0.2, that's not working. It totally discombobulates me to have a close button on each separate tab.
Could someone who's better than I am with these later versions of Firefox please tell me how to regain the functionality I'm familare with, please and thanks!

The latest update has broken whatever it is that allows pressing links on webpages to download files.

Hi all, I need to edit my Gmail mailto link to have a "/u/1" within it, because my default mailbox is not the one I want to be emailing from when I click a mailto link, but the URL within the settings menu is locked for editing. Is there an INI file or some sort of command line edit I can make please? I have another mailto link saved within Firefox that I need to use occassionaly so I can't use any solution that locks me to Gmail. Thanks in advance.
