Hi,
I have come across an issue where the Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) feature has stopped working on every single website I visit.
Every website I visit, the ETP icon is greyed out and not detecting any trackers.
For instance, when visiting the independent website, the ETP icon usually glows blue to indicate there are trackers. However, now, it is just greyed out, which is incorrect.
So far, I have done the following troubleshooting steps to fix the issue, but I have had no success:
I have also checked this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1327504
Can someone please help me with this, as I have no idea what else to do to fix this issue?
I started Firefox from scratch with a new profile, and the ETP worked for a short period, but when I closed and restarted Firefox, it just stopped working on every single site - this keeps persisting.
Any help would be appreciated!

How can this be allowed to happen? This goes against everything private browsing is supposed to be.
I open a private window' log in to gmail, reddit, amazon, any site, etc; i close private browsing window entirely - removed from taskbar; i reopen private browsing and all my sessions are still signed in.
The fact that this is happening is negligent to the point of criminality. WHAT is the solution and why is this being allowed to occur?

This seems...wrong.

I have a 'site' that is just files on my hard drive.
I need to click an anchor link such as: <a href="file:///dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4">Store Your Files Here</a> and have Firefox open the folder dir4 with the systems file manager. ( In my case the file manager is Nautilus ) ( Ubuntu 20.04 )
I have seen this: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_do_not_work but it does not describe a scenario that uses the file:/// interface.
It also does not provide any information about how the files will be handled.
I can get the folder link to work currently , but it appears with the: 'Index of file///...' in a browser tab.
Obviously you can not use that for anything useful.
The main goal is to open the folder and be able to use the system file manager to include more content for the site without having to navigate to the folder manually. The folders I want to display are buried many levels down without the possibility of having descriptive names. I have ~121 pages/folders in this arrangement , and each one has content for each page. I would like to add a button on each of the 121 pages that will open each of the pages content folder.

How do I stop Firefox from out of control data clearing? There is a window under Privacy & Security / History / Clear History that opens a window that allows a user, in theory, to choose which components to clear (cookies, cache, etc.) In that window is a pull down menu to specify the time range to clear. A screen shot of that is attached. I do NOT want my cookies cleared unless I say so. I do not want cookies or some of the other components cleared from the last hour, I don't want them cleared from the last two hours or the last four hours or today. (And the "Everything" reference does not make sense syntactically in this setting.) A screen shot of that menu is attached.
It does not matter if I uncheck one or all of those boxes by cookies, cache, etc. When I open the browser the next time, they are checked again -- AND THE MOFO COOKIES HAVE TO BE MANAGED AGAIN, ETC., ETC., ETC.
What have a setting if Firefox is going to arbitrarily clear everything immediately or once and hour or by some criterion it has not revealed to the user -- nor has informed the user exists?
Anyone have any thoughts on a work-around?
Thanks.

After updating to FF 114, I noticed that my history and cookies were no longer being cleared according to my settings. Also, a particular page is now being opened as a pinned tab.
I reverted to FF 113, hoping that this would be fixed in 115. Today I tried 115.0.3, and history is still not being cleared. I have again reverted to FF 113.
I am on Windows 10. My history settings are to use Custom settings and clear history when Firefox closes. Cookie settings are to delete cookies and site data when FF closes.
Is there any intention to fix, or is this some new behavior that I am stuck with? Also, is there a way to clear the pinned tab behavior?
Thanks.

I just updated to Firefox 120, and tried the new GPC setting (Tell websites not to sell or share my data). I ran into a problem when I went to the Xfinity community forums (https://forums.xfinity.com/) . It causes a banner on top showing they recognize the setting. There is an "X" in the corner, and some text that says "Hide this banner", but they are not active. Plus, I cannot make a new post or do a general reply (that weird forum software has both local replies to a particular post and general replies to the general thread.)
Is this a bug in Firefox, or a bug in their forum software? I attached a picture of the message it gives.

I keep getting a opt-out\opt-in notice from Global Privacy control every couple hours. 1st. I've already opted out. 2nd. I went into about:config and set globalprivacycontrol to (true). 3rd. When I check the globalprivacycontrol.org website it states(GPC signal detected). See attached photos
What more do I have to do to stop this notice from popping up all the time.

Hello. I cannot remove the suggestions that appear in the drop down address bar suggestions list. Shift-delete does not work. Changing the search settings in tools does not work. There is no three dots that appear next to the URL, or a pop up that shows up if I hover over the link. They are stubbornly embedded on that bar and refuse to leave.
The only thing that works is to delete all history, but I don't want to do that. There may be some solution where I micromanage site permissions on a site by site basis but that's way too much work, and should not have to do that.
The URLs on the list themselves are totally random. I cannot figure out how Firefox decided that THESE are the URLs to feature. I visited like once, in a long string of activity.
Anyway, my inability to perform a simple task like right-click-delete or demand that it "stop doing that" is making me claustrophobic.

Later version refuses to connect to my modem, and goes into security web mode. This modem uses HTTP/HTTPS for access, i.e., connects directly it's IP address, then the user enters a username and password. At that point, the the modem switches to HTTPS for control.
With this recent update, there is NO WAY to access the modem for any work, or upgrade the HTTPS certificate on the modem. This is a BUG.
What should happen is that if the web site will accept a HTTP connection, Firefox should NOT refuse connection or test for security issues UNTIL the user or the device switches to HTTPS.
As an aside, I've used Firefox on this Zywall modem for years until recently.

Beginning this evening, I can no longer log in to my online google account.
I keep getting asked for "Two-Step Verification", but this doesn't work: I give a 'phone number, but my phone never rings. I once received a "Google verification Code" of [removed], but that didn't work, either.
I DO NOT WANT "2-step verification"; I don't need any special login protection.
How do I eliminate 2-step verification? It starts with "Sign in to keep your new Google News and get news based on your interests. ... Sign In", but never allows me to sign in!
How do I sign into surveyhoney.com, currently blocked by Firefox?

Others trying to Sucker me into Chrome or Edge, which they claim are perfect and totally privacy oriented.

HI all! Hope you all are doing well.
I am using user.js file to harden my Firefox to the best possible way. I have few question about that process.
1. Where i can find the complete list of all active user_pref settings? All of the options i have to edit them. like user_pref("security.sandbox.content.level", 6); - now i have 6 by default but what is the range?
2. Is there any tool i can use to update my list with the latest entries, and to remove the obsolete entries?
3. Sandbox - what are the best possible ranges and settings for the below entries?
ser_pref("security.sandbox.socket.win32k-disable", true); user_pref("security.sandbox.content.level", 6); user_pref("security.sandbox.content.shadow-stack.enabled", true); user_pref("security.sandbox.gmp.win32k-disable", true); user_pref("security.sandbox.gpu.shadow-stack.enabled", true); user_pref("security.sandbox.gpu.level", 2);
Thanks well in advance! Firefox 116.0.3

If I try to access https://bugs.cacert.org I get an error message: SSL_ERROR_EXPIRED_CERT_ALERT
If I access to the same site with chromium browser, there is no such error message, even more: I can access the certificate with the following information: valid until 2024 (see complete cert as picture).
Why this obviously wrong error message? How can it be circumvented (a warning might work, but a blockade?)?
Why do I get as in my image, everytime I log in? THE LOCATION IS NOT MINE.
