Hello,

I have a question about language options in Firefox. I moved to the Netherlands some time ago but I don't speak Dutch (yet). Most menu items are in Dutch right now, making it really hard to understand.

When I first installed Firefox I removed Dutch from the languages list and the problem was solved, after some time when I updated my browser Dutch got installed again and I can't remove it anymore, remove button is disabled.

English is the fist language selected in the languages list. Is there a way to remove Dutch from Firefox?

OS: Windows 10 OS Language: English

Hi, I figured if anyone knew how to accomplish this, someone here would, because I'm at a loss.

I'm looking to use userChrome.css customizations to bring back the native focus outline (the blue glow) around the URL bar when it's in focus. I feel like this should definitely be possible in one way or another.

This is how my URL bar looks currently: image 1 below (or: https://imgur.com/IQDXejh) This is the "glow" to which I'm referring, which is native to OS X: image 2 below (or: https://imgur.com/ImA6Of8) For the record, I was only able to achieve that second example by using ":root #urlbar {-moz-appearance: textfield;}" which is obviously out of the question and only to illustrate the outline I'm seeking to add to URL bar in the first example.

Put another way, I just want my URL bar to use the native OS X outline glow when in focus (instead of my current 2px border) without changing any other styling, custom or otherwise (as much as possible).

I'm using 78.2.0esr on OS X 10.9.5 and the full contents of my userChrome.css file are: https://pastebin.com/QFsxdaF5 Thank you in advance for any help. Please let me know if I missed something important or can provide anymore information.

If I have a video running in Youtube and I decide to put the computer to sleep the following happens when I revive the session:

Firefox - the video will be running but without sound. Stopping and starting the video makes no difference - the only way to get sound is to reload the page which means the video goes back to the start.

MS Edge by contrast (under exactly the same circumstances) presents a page where the video has stopped but when I click on "play" the video resumes complete with sound. To me this makes much more sense but I do not want to use Edge!

I wonder if there is a setting I could adjust in Firefox to address this issue.

Thanks.

Hi Friends,

I have read the other posts on this questions.

I have a very unique use case. My grandfather is 101 and still going strong. He loves his computer and regularly has in-depth questions that he calls me with.

The firefox (latest version) updates are causing him serious problems though. It seems like they are very regular - I know this is good, but in this case, being 101, I just want him to be able to use his computer without being bothered with the updates. I am aware of the different options, but unfortunately there is not a "turn off" option (why!). I did read something about modifying a .json file though. On a side note, I'm a computer guy and have been involved with IT for over 30 years. The firefox updates are a "bother" for other people I work with as well.

Does somebody have the code they can share to turn off these updates? When this stupid covid is over I will be seeing him regularly and will perform the updates myself.

Thank you.

While searching how to add multiple instances of Firefox I realized that there was a bug awhile ago where essentially every tab got opened up in the volume mixer. So I can't search for what I wanted because there were only threads about the bug.

I was wondering if there's anyway I can have multiple instances of Firefox in the windows volume mixer? If I open up two separate Firefox browsers it still merges them together in the mixer. I would like to see two different Firefox instances in the mixer is this possible?

If I visit a page that I have previously visited some time ago, it is — as expected — brought to the top of my History (when sorted by "last visited").

However, if I revisit or refresh a page that I had visited only a short time before — say, ten minutes ago — it is not brought to the top of the list.

Presumably there is some parameter that specifies the duration within which Firefox will not update the last visited tag for a previously visited page.

How can I set that parameter to zero so that Firefox will always bring a refreshed page to the top of my History?

Thanks. This has been bothering me for some time.

I want to use a local html file as my new tab page. Currently there is no easy way to do this as far as I can tell.

Firefox at some point has removed the in-built option to set the new tab as a local file. Setting the home page as a local file is possible. But setting the new tab as either home (note, not 'Firefox Home') or explicitly the local file is not an option (see attached image).

Previous forum posts point toward New Tab Override extension. However, in recent releases, add-ons cannot offer a work around as Firefox no longer allows add-ons to access local files. In the image attached, New Tab Override extension shows that it cannot use a local file as the new tab. It can however take a file and store it somewhere it has control over. This means every time I edit the local file, I need to manually re-upload this to the extension in each instance of Firefox. It is no longer a good option.

I am sure I used this feature not too long ago and it feels like a very simple thing. I am sure I must have missed some setting or option. Any help achieving this would be greatly appreciated.
