Hi,

I'm struggling with how to sort my many bookmarks. Not sure if a bookmark should be in a sub-directory and/or I add multiple tags. I've thought of adding them to generalized directories and then adding as many tags as needed, but am not able to search/select multiple tags in the Library window. Any pointers on what is a good way to do this?

I have things like Coding, Learning, Tools. But then also Git, PHP, Linux. I can't figure out how to sort all these :( Thanks for any input you may have.

Cheers.

Noticed yesterday but not as prominent, firefox suddenly steals all window focus, trying to do anything in any other window is pushed into firefox no matter if it is minimised or in another workspace. I have tested this in a clean install along with a clean profile. Bitwarden and other windows seem to act weird when they are interacted with.

This all works well and good on b8 and stable. I am using wayland (Ubuntu 22.* default), but xwayland is available.

I recently installed new pc with fresh Firefox Developer Edition. Then I transfered the profile folder from old pc to the new pc. All bookmarks, addons, etc is there. Just the XULRunner popup appears only on the new pc. I uninstalled firefox on the new pc again and reinstalled it with profile cleaning. After profile cleaning firefox got faster and addons got removed. But the XULRunner popup keeps appearing. When I go to taskscheduler and trigger the "Firefox Developer Edition Background Update CA9422711AE1A81C" again, the XULRunner popup appears. Removing this taskscheduler and Firefox keeps readding it and the XULRunner popup are back. Any idea how I can get rid of the XULRunner popup?

Hi,

with a lot of effort I edited three times all my container entries at about:preferences#containers, but the changes were not overtaken correctly.

Now I want to start from the scratch without having to create a new Firefox profile. How can I delete the container entries permanently ? I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the extension, but the entries were still there afterwards.

Thanks

Whenever I sign into Firefox, all my themes, add-ons/extensions are added via Firefox Sync. That's fine, but the problem I have is that whenever I sign into any Firefox browser, an old theme I used to have that I no longer have on my account keeps coming back, and I've tried to find solutions to this issue, but none have had this kind of issue. It may be similar to issues those have had, or currently have, but I can't seem to do anything to remedy this issue.

Keep in mind that this is not a Firefox browser issue, it is an account issue.

I'd be deeply grateful to any assistance you may have for me.

I'm on FF Beta v105.0b6, and a recent upgrade (I'm guessing from 104 to 105) has caused popup windows to be ghosted when saving files, leaving only the file selector field visible and floating above the main window, often indistinguishable from the text below it. I've been able to work around this by temporarily jumping to another screen or window and then back to find the complete popup window magically revealed.

I've attached two clips from windows a see after clicking Download link on the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ page. This ghost behavior also happens on pages where I right-click context to "save as" or click download link for TXT, PDF, PKG or other types of files.

This doesn't seem to be a popup blocking issue, since my FF is not configured to block these specific sites and the popup is minimally visible. Also, the temporary workaround of simply switching my view away and back points more to a page rendering issue.

I'd appreciate any ideas on resolving or preventing this behavior. If these clues point to a bug, I hope they help resolve the issue.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I've recently been having troubles playing videos on Firefox.

My school website uses Vimeo embeds, but recently when I've put the videos in fullscreen, after 4-5 seconds it stops responding. The video freezes but the audio continues, and the controls don't come up when I move the mouse. I can press ESC to exit fullscreen, but the controls are still gone and the audio keeps playing. Then after a few more seconds I get the warning "This page is slowing down Firefox, to speed up your browser stop this page".

If I don't use fullscreen but instead zoom in on the page, it also freezes. If I try the same things with Edge it does not freeze. I also made sure that it was only affecting Vimeo videos, by testing with other platforms and other vimeo links.

I found previous reports of this issue, but all of them were either on Linux, or it was an issue with flash player, which is not relevant anymore.

Not quite sure how to debug this but I would be happy to provide further info. It's really important that it works again :/ Thanks in advance!

My repro steps: 1. Find a video on https://vimeo.com/watch 2. Play it and enter fullscreen 3. Wait around 6 seconds

I use Kubuntu 23.04 with Firefox from mozillateam/ppa apt repository, got update to FF 119 today (package 119.0+build1-0ubuntu0.23.04.1~mt1) and after the update Firefox stopped using system-wide installed fonts (either from /usr/share/fonts or from ~/.local/share/fonts).

So for example fc-list finds Gentium Plus (/usr/share/fonts), Iosevka and Junicode (~/.local/share/fonts) on my system: % fc-list -f '%{family}: %{file}\n' | rg -i 'gentium plus:' Gentium Plus: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/gentiumplus/GentiumPlus-Italic.ttf Gentium Plus: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/gentiumplus/GentiumPlus-BoldItalic.ttf Gentium Plus: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/gentiumplus/GentiumPlus-Bold.ttf Gentium Plus: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/gentiumplus/GentiumPlus-Regular.ttf % fc-list -f '%{family}: %{file}\n' | rg -i 'iosevka:' Iosevka: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/iosevka/iosevka.ttc Iosevka: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/iosevka/iosevka.ttc Iosevka: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/iosevka/iosevka.ttc Iosevka: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/iosevka/iosevka.ttc % fc-list -f '%{family}: %{file}\n' | rg -i 'junicode:' Junicode: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/junicode/otf/Junicode-Bold.otf Junicode: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/junicode/otf/Junicode-Regular.otf Junicode: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/junicode/otf/Junicode-Italic.otf Junicode: /home/silmeth/.local/share/fonts/junicode/otf/Junicode-BoldItalic.otf

but when I try to apply the style `font-family: Gentium Plus`, `font-family: Iosevka`, or `font-family: Junicode` to an element, Firefox doesn’t use those fonts and instead in the element inspector I see Noto Serif is being used instead.

Before the update the appropriate system fonts were being chosen for rendering by Firefox.

On my laptop, I run FDE as my daily driver, with the release version to handle my webmail. I also use portable firefox (from portableapps.com) as a browser to use while at work, from a thumb drive. While using that portable verison, I usually just go to google image search, and a work site that would definitely be secure.

My question: I don't like to update the installation on my thumb drive very often, and occasionally work computers are very slow anyways. So if I were to update it no more often than once a month, which version of firefox would be most secure: Release, Beta, or Nightly?

If doing this is just dumb, then which version gets updated less often--it would be Release, correct?

I've just installed Firefox Developer. I cannot get Mozilla VPN added to it. Can you help? Do I have to remove Mozilla VPN from the old Firefox installation before it will work?

Also, can I run both Firefox and Firefox Developer at the same time? I'm concerned that Profile entries an other variables might be corrupted.

Last, are there any articles or videos available to help users learn how to use FxDeveloper?

TIA

Try this test first. Go to About:Config, write TLS , change the setting to max (4) . Then attempt to download the firefox installer. The website won't load, as the webmasters did not enable TLS 1.3 , which in 2023 is kind of a shame. The browser cannot update itself either automatically if only TLS 1.3 is allowed, and TLS1.2 is disabled.

The can be an easy fix. I wonder why Mozilla did not solve this already years back. I also wonder why fans, and security researchers did not scream about it in the past..

For the download.mozilla.org the cipher suite Key Exchange is P256, while the Signature is RSA-PKCS1-SHA512, for Transport Layer Security 1.2

I'm sure Mozilla can do better then this, so kindly review these items, and update your website with stronger / modern encryption standards. Decommission the legacy ones please. While you are at it, please also enable HSTS. ;) Cheers!

FireFox V. 107.0 -MBP-High Sierra.

Lately the last couple of months when I google search webpages then select them, Fire Fox doesnt bring up the article, Its been happening a lot and getting really irritating. So I bring up Google Chrome and it always brings up the article. SEE THE PICTURES. I use only Fire Fox as my browser, I keep Chrome around for when Fire Fox doesnt want to work properly. As you will see in the pictures the same website for both browsers. Fire Fox wont show the article no matter how many times I refresh the page or shut FF down, or reboot my MBP, but Chrome works perfectly every damned time. Why cant Fire Fox open the article but Chrome can? I need your help, any advice is greatly appreciated. SEE THE PICTURES.

Hello,

Whenever I use Firefox, I end up seeing popups (necessary for school) and would like to show them as tabs so I can merge them into other windows. I have tried the solutions given in: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1080255 and nothing seemed to work. Is there another way to make sure that popup windows cannot hide the toolbar and show tabs?

When you open a link from the sidebar while holding ctrl, firefox opens it in a new tab and switches to it immediately; whereas when you click a link from a webpage with ctrl, it does not switch to the new tab (unless you hold shift as well, or check "When you open a link, image or media in a new tab, switch to it immediately" in settings > general > tabs). I would like if firefox does not automatically switch to opened links from the sidebar (history, bookmark, etc.), when I open them with ctrl? (I know I can hold shift to do that, but I was wondering if there might be a preference in about:config to change the reverse this behaviour for sidebars)

Thanks, Ibr.

Lately when I attempt to download any pdf file I get the 'file name'.pdf with 'failed' as the result (when I check the Download icon on the FF status bar). I looked in my download directory and I found these 'failed' .pdf files with 0 KB and also some files (same name).pdf.part. I changed the file extension (deleted .part) to .pdf and the files would open in Acrobat. Nobody likes inconsistent problems, but occasionally a pdf will download normally!! FireFox Developer 99.0b8 (64-bit) on the "aurora update channel" on Windows 10 PC (version 1803, build 17134.2208)

I notice whenever an update is pending (the green dot appears in the icon for the "Open Application Menu"), FF becomes unresponsive in a way. When it happens: It does not totally freeze. I can select/switch between existing tabs & scroll thru their pages. I can close tabs. I can open a new empty tab. But I can't load or refresh any pages. The only fix is to do the update, and re-launch.

Since the developer edition gets updated frequently, it is a pain.

I like the Developer Tools! But... How can I scale back the FF "update frequency", or "change the channel", so updates are, like monthly at most?

thank you.
