My Firefox refuses to load MetaCPAN's OpenSearch.xml file, even though I can access it without problems.

So this got me thinking, as Opensearch files are relatively easy to write, is it possible to import my own opensearch.xml into Firefox?

If it's impossible, I'll submit a ticket to bugzil.la.

Hi

I am finding it near impossible to use Firefox at the moment, I can no longer successfully log on to my First Direct page page, My Royal Mail OBA page, I couldn't get the Virgin media chat link to load from firefox the other day, this is just to name a few. I can do all these tasks on other browsers, just not on Firefox, I am at the point of totally giving up on using Firefox and unistalling it. I have tried clearing cookies and cache and it did nothing to resolve these issues.

I have no idea what is going on but I am finding that the list of websites that I can no longer use on firefox just grows and grows. Any advice?

I use firefox 108.0.2 (64-bit) and MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020) on MacOS Monterey.

Thanks Louise

Good morning, Recently I discovered there are two maps called "Andere bladwijzers" in my Firefox browser. I deleted a submap in the second map and noticed this submap had also disappeared in the first map. Is there something I must do or can I leave these two large maps as it is? Thanking you in advance for your reply. With kind regards, Ed Schijf, the Netherlands

Hi, I just bought a new Windows 11 Ideapad laptop and installed Firefox 109.

The laptop display has a resolution of 2560x1600. My external monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200, so both are 16:10.

If I duplicate displays and just use the external monitor, which is what I have always done, Firefox renders all text as very blotchy, like a printer that is running out of ink.

Edge looks fine on the external monitor. I installed Chrome and it also looks fine.

I have a attached some sample images. I used my phone to take photos of the monitor. I noticed that if I used the Windows Snipping Tool or FF's built-in Take Screenshot that the image was darker and clearer in the selection box than when it's normally displayed.

I read a lot of comments on forums about various setting changes to try in about:config under gfx.font_rendering. Many folks say that has helped them. I tried lots of those setting changes, but none of them helped.

Also in those forums some folks said there was a change in rendering from FF 108 to 109, so I installed FF 108 but it looks no better.

Since I normally just use the external monitor, when I looked at the laptop, I suddenly noticed that Firefox on the laptop display looks fine.

Some online searching suggests using "Extend Display" in Windows if the laptop and external monitor resolutions do not match. I tried that and then Firefox looks fine on the external monitor. The laptop senses the different resolutions, it seems, and changes something that helps Firefox.

I prefer just using the external monitor. Duplicating the display is an option, though not my first choice. My other options are: Buy a new monitor with 2560x1600 resolution, except that I just bought this monitor recently so that's wasted money. Return the laptop since I've only had it 2 days and get one with a 1920x1200 display. I had considered one of those, but it was more expensive and opted for this one.

I'm trying to understand why this would only affect Firefox and not Edge or Chrome. Are there any ideas on that and if there is a way to remedy it?

Thanks, Ross

Hi, I recently began having trouble getting Youtube to work on Firefox.. Doesn't seem to want to connect, slow to open, mostly not at all, sometimes loads half the page....etc Constantly comes back with a message that I am not connected to the internet, which is nonsense.. It loads instantly in Microsoft Edge..which I normally don't use at all. I have deleted all history , Cache etc multiple times and that works maybe for one time and then the problem is back again.

Appreciate some help.

I installed Mozilla VPN just over one year ago. I never could get it working right (my issue I'm sure) and simply forgot about it. Until I was billed for another year recently. I really do not need VPN at all because I always use secure methods when online such as Kaspersky protected browsing and PayPal and Zelle also. Please direct me to whomever is able to cancel my VPN account and possibly issue a refund. A phone number would be nice if a better explanation is necessary. Thank you for helping me, I look forward to hearing back.

After ColorWays was disabled I installed the FireFox Color add-on to recreate the theme I had been using

Everything works fine except when I open the Library window or Add-on windows I get the 'Dark Theme' instead of the 'Light Theme'

After experimenting with different colors I found that the 'Toolbar Color' setting here https://color.firefox.com determines whether the Library is light or dark

It seems only the very lightest colors allow the light theme even though on ColorWays the intermediate themes allowed it and had exactly the same level of brightness as the custom one I created

Is the there any way to independently alter the Library color without having to the change the Toolbar theme I read this https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Add-ons/WebExtensions/manifest.json/theme#colors but it doesn't mention the Library

Thanks

The Subject says it. I have this line "Your browser is being managed by your organization." in Config under Sync. I am a private user so there is no organization. I want to get rid of this.

I'm trying to troubleshoot why Google Chat will not sound an audible alert while Google Mail does. I can't find any settings that would affect this so naturally I suspect this organization line.

I'm using the Mozilla .deb and not the Ubuntu snap.

Thanks, John

This question was previously posted: "How to DISABLE the back and forward arrows that now come up on the left and right sides of the Firefox panel." There was only one answer but it didn't address the actual issue. It's too easy to inadvertently go back a page or two which usually screws up something I'm working on. Someone added these annoying arrows, there must be a way to remove or at least disable them. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Firstly, a moan. If you are going to ask me to provide data manually for heavens sake DO NOT divert the page in which I've just spent time typing to another page and dump all my work into the ether in the process!! Trigger the opening of a new tab, save my work, or just don't request - but PLEASE don't waste my time making me type the whole lot again!

Now, back to screenshots. As useful as the feature is, the 'copy' function does not allow paste into much I've tried or the desktop. The download function only saves in PNG format which isn't much liked for uploading elsewhere. Can we not have the possibility to chose a download familiar file format, e.g. JPEG and PDF?

Also, can we not have a facility to print a screenshot? That is to send directly to a print function. That would be very useful as one could print just the parts of web-pages required, not all the dross, white space, page breaks in wrong places and in some cases huge length (multitude of print pages).

Perhaps this should be posted in suggestions for inprovement, if only I could find that page... No link to it? Or am I missing it?

Thanks.
