Firefox suddenly crashes without any displayed error. Attempt to troubleshoot it in "safe mode" doesn't help (it also suddenly crashes.

• When I had redirected following output: "Exiting due to channel error."
• after restart, I launched "about:crashes", but there were no entries

If I'm not mistaken, between FF146 and FF147 it appears the location of the profile directory has changed. It was:

   /home/<user>/.mozilla/firefox  

and now is

   /home/<user>/.config/mozilla/firefox

Is that correct?

[Edit:] I'm using Kubuntu with Thunderbird installed via flatpak using the flathub repo.

When attempting to add my calendars on our Nextcloud server, I can't get further then the second dialog.

Steps to reproduce: 1. New account > Calendar 2. Select "On the network" 3. Enter the correct user name and address (I did try the server address AND both CalDAV addresses presented in the calendar settings on the Nextcloud web app). 4. Press "Search for calendars" 5. After an extended period of time a dialog with a title "Adding a security exception" appears, claiming, that our Nextcloud site does not have a correct certificate (it does).

This is where the journey ends. If you add an exception, the dialog disappears and you are still at number 3. Trying again will produce the same result. Funny thing is, that you can press the button "Load certificate" in the "exception dialog" and then the same dialog will declare that our site does indeed have a correct certificate! But it will only allow you to close the dialog and you are still at number 3 and without any chance to add your calendars.

This is a completely new installation of Thunderbird. There are other folks that are using Thunderbird with their calendars on the same Nextcloud server and everything works happily. I presume this is a bug with the newer version of Thunderbird or something of that sort.

Tags summary display has disappeared.

I can search for tags, but the convenient "tags folder" is gone. Please help.

Tried in safe mode with add-ons and toolbars/controls disabled. Error console is empty when assigning or removing tags.

Everytime I restart and open firefox and then try to access facebook, sometimes google, n=some news websites and probably other apps, I get a captcha, but it repeats no matter how many times I get it right.

I cannot access facebook and I need it for work (small org, no IT section to ask), and can't access some new sites.

I've gone to basic security settings, but that doesn't help.

What to do?

On my Windows 11 laptop, in Thunderbird v 148.0.1, I changed the entries for Accounts>"Your name" for all of my accounts. I then Tools>Export the settings to a file. It was reported as 1.97Gigs, and Krusader displayed it as 1.9Gigs.

On my Linux laptop, I imported the settings into Linux Thunderbird v 140.9.0esr (64-bit). It did not import the new names. When I attempted to edit them, Account Settings mode says "Account name already exists" and appends _2 to the account name.

I forgot to make a backup before I undertook this.

How can I fix this?

I have a 100% repro rate of Firefox redirecting linkedin.com to linkedin.cn. Unfortunately there's another problem beyond the unwanted redirection: linkedin.cn no longer exits, it has been dead for years, I literally cannot reach LinkedIn at all. It was working fine a week or two ago. How do I prevent Firefox from redirecting behind my back? I see the status message (is that what it's called) in the lower left corner "Performing TLS handshake to www.linkedin.cn" and of course it only times out. I just verified with "Web" (different browser), it connects just fine, which suggests that it's a Firefox issue, not a system wide one.

I have credit card auto-filling enabled and several credit cards active. However, most of the time, when I go to use the autofill, though the card choices appear and I am able to select one, and it usually temporarily shows the fields to be filled, when the menu closes, the auto-fills are gone! It's worse than not having autofill at all. This seems to happen the majority of sites where I try to use it.

I'm using Firefox 152 (64 bit). When I try to enable the built in VPN, I get a message saying to check my internet connection, even though I am already connected to the internet. The VPN will not turn on.

I have a CardDAV address book on a Nextcloud instance that i want to sync to Thunderbird.

When i open Address Book and the clikc on " Create a new address book" the Account Hub modal window opens. None of the 4 options (including Add Remote Address Book" do anything, i.e. I can click as much as I like but nothing happens.

When viewing pdf files created from MS Word (.docx) documents and sent to me I see white lines across some images but not all. This happens with Firefox on Windows 11 and linux mint (various versions). It is present on the images from the file as received and after uploading to a website. The images are OK if viewed using Opera or other browsers but the same problem is present on Thunderbird. I have had this problem in the past, but now its back again. At first I just reset my password every time, then I set up the password to be auto-filled. I have had no sign-in failures for months. At one point i did figure out how to check my sign in history to see the failed attempts, and there were none. That was a long time ago, and I have since forgotten how to check this. The problem does seem to be with firefox as it does not happen with chrome.

This setting, "Always ask you where to save files," is definitely broken.

Proposed solution: "I believe you also need to go into Tools -> Settings -> General and set the Action for the types of downloads (Applications) to Always Ask for those types you want it to."

But this workaround should not be needed. "Always ask" means always ask. As in always. No other additional steps should be needed.

Can you folks please open a bug to get this fixed? This used to work just fine in (much) older versions of Firefox and Netscape. "Always ask" is supposed to mean always ask. Like, always.

Anyway to fix the issue?

I signed in to https://accounts.firefox.com to sync Firefox on iPhone iOS 26 and got a sign in from an unexpected location.
