Hi using 153esr and Win11

I have my emails on an encrypted drive. Until now if I closed Thunderbird I would have to enter my Master/Primary password before and emails would show, i.e they were protected from casual view.

Now if I type [cancel] at the request for a password, twice in a row than all my emails are visible.

I though it may be this new thing where the [close] icon functions differently, but even if I close via the menu File > Exit it seems Thunderbird still has access to my emails without authorisation.

Any ideas would be useful

Recently updated to ESR Meadow.

Now when I try to save attachment from an email by dragging and dropping to desktop, Windows pops up "Error Moving File or Folder - Unspecified error" and the operation fails.

And when I try to save attachment from an email by right click > open > Save dialog, the save filename is always "nsmail" but with the original file extension. E.g. a jpg attachment would come up as "nsmail.jpg", and a txt file attachment would come up as nsmail.txt. It does then save it, but why lose the filename?

It used to preserve the attachment filename, I'm sure! And drag and drop to desktop was such a convenient feature!

I have tried in Troubleshoot mode and behaviour is the same. I have tried in Windows Safe mode and behaviour for Save is the same; but drag and drop is completely disabled there (when I drag it, it shows a circle with line through icon).

Is it just me?

Hello For the past few days, every time I launch Thunderbird, I’m asked to re-enter my account password. I do this every time after deleting the saved passwords in the settings, ticking the ‘Use the password manager...’ box, and restarting Thunderbird. But nothing seems to work. Do you have a solution? I want to use Firefox on my foldable phone alongside several other apps. However, Firefox won't stay open in split-screen view; it only runs in full-screen mode and closes all other apps. That’s a real shame. If Firefox can't be adapted to work this way, I'll have to use a different browser.

Hi - I am running Thunderbird release 140.12.1esr (aarch64) on a desktop Mac runnning Sequoia 15.7.3.

Thunderbird is set up to take addresses from my personal address book. When I bring up Collected Addresses in the Thunderbird address book, there are no email [or any other kind of] addresses listed. Absolutely nothing in Collected Addresses within the Thunderbird address book.

There are 21 email and other addresses listed in my Mac OSX address book. When I search my stored email messages, Thunderbird brings up each and every address that matches the string in my query. The matches appear to go back more than twenty years.

I have searched the web on how to clear the autocomplete cache. There appear to be several different methods. I have tried bringing up the matches via the string and the resulting query, and then scrolling through the matches with the down arrow key. When I reach an address I would like to remove from the autocomplete cache, I have tried clicking on various combinations of keys. These combinations include:

1) Shift + Delete keys 2) Option + Delete keys 3) Command + Delete keys 4) Option + Command + Delete keys 5) Just the Delete key

My intuition tells me the autocomplete cache must be stored somewhere in a file. I cannot conceive of the autocomplete cache being maintained across versions, hosts, etc. over a period spanning twenty years without getting stored in a file.

Please enlighten me on how to clear out the junk email addresses in my autocomplete cache.

I use a number of add-ons to help me out. Unfortunately, the following add-ons aren't working right now: Quicktext, Send Later, TbSync (where and how do I integrate it into Thunderbird?). When sending an email, I have to go through “File” > “Send”—there’s no button for it. The VBA call to send a generated email truncates the string, so the attachment isn’t included.

I’m sure some add-ons will be updated. But this is hitting me hard right now.

I use a paid for subscription to Gemini AI. It often creates "visuals" for me apparently using JSON code. These do not show up at all. Moreover, the buttoms and other UI controls do not display well in Firefox. Is there a way to fix this?

When I bookmark a website and select edit, it does not show my created bookmarks to save too, nor can I move existing bookmarks to created folders, why not? I have to create a folder, then select all my existing important bookmarks and save them to the created folder. I can not later add any saved bookmarks to the created folder, why not? The Beta version has the same issue. Please make a change to allow for bookmark saving or moving to created folders. Thank you.

1) When launched, Thunderbird 140.13 has a pop-up window asking for a Host Gator login. HG has not been used or on this system over 8 years. "cloud80.hostgator.com is requesting your username and password." What would cause this window to appear and How to delete it completely?

2) Also, after the Thunderbird 140.13 installed and re-launched, an email was sent requesting to verify location and login sent from: "accounts at firefox.com". Is this a common request from Mozilla firefox / thunderbird?

After the last update, Firefox won't open. Instead, I get this message:

"Firefox is already running but is not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."

I have closed it within the error message but the error message comes back each time I try to open Firefox.

I'm troubleshooting a Firefox Desktop issue that I haven't been able to reproduce consistently in other browsers.

I use a browser-based precious metal calculator that performs calculations instantly using JavaScript. The page loads correctly, but after changing several input values and navigating between tabs, Firefox occasionally continues displaying an older calculated result until I perform a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5).

I've been able to reproduce the issue consistently using this scrap calculator scrap calculator. The page loads normally, but Firefox sometimes continues displaying an older calculated value until a hard refresh is performed.

The page itself loads normally, and there are no visible JavaScript errors in the Browser Console. However, the displayed value sometimes does not update immediately after changing the weight or purity inputs.

So far I have tested:

• Firefox Troubleshoot Mode
• Disabled all extensions
• Cleared cache and cookies
• Tested a new Firefox profile
• Disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection for the site

The issue appears only in Firefox Desktop. Chrome and Edge update the calculation instantly under the same conditions.

Has anyone encountered similar behavior involving JavaScript-driven calculations, form inputs, or page caching in Firefox?

Are there specific Firefox settings or diagnostic tools I should check to determine whether this is related to caching, page state restoration, or another browser feature?

I would like to set up a passkey to make logging in more convenient, but it keeps failing. My network connection is normal, and I don't have a VPN turned on. After entering the verification code, I don't do anything—I just wait for the passkey to be sent. But either it times out or says it's been cancelled, even though I haven't done anything. I've also tried using mobile data, but the same thing happens. I hope you can help me. Thank you.

This issue only affects Gmail in Firefox on my Android laptop. Gmail works fine in Google Chrome on the laptop and on my iPhone. In Firefox, I can't see my emails—just rows with empty checkboxes, arrows for important/unimportant messages, blank spaces, "Updates," and more blank spaces. When I click on a row, the message opens, but otherwise, it is completely devoid of text or images.

It might have been an email with the subject line "Instagram." Then came my name and a number (which I’ve omitted here), followed by "update you on..." Then "updated with Instagram... Inbox"
