Good evening I have been using Thunderbird mail for ages, and now suddenly diverse thing don't work anymore: I can't chose my signatures anymore, the language correction does not work anylonger, and when I print things they come out wrong. the hourglass icon comes on whenever I click anywhere in the inbox, and the program makes me wait too long. This is a new problem with the so-called new thunderbird. It is not an improvement; it was made worse. Please fix this bug. And where it says report a bug, I can't report one.

My Thunderbird set-up has worked fine for years so I was surprised to discover two days ago I can no longer send emails. I have a Gmail SMTP account which I have never previously have a problem with.

Thunderbird updates automatically and I am on version 91.8.1 - it's possible the problem began when the new version was downloaded but I don't know when that was.

Whenever I try to send an email I get the error:

The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.googlemail.com timed out.

When I delete 1 email, it happens quickly. When I delete 5 emails, it takes about 10 seconds. When I delete 40 emails, it takes 2+ minutes, when I delete 100+ emails, it takes 7+ minutes. What's going on? Seems to me emails, no matter how many I delete, should be deleted very quickly. What can I do to speed up the delete process?

Thunderbird crashes regularly. I have determined that it might be due to RAM. When Quickbooks is open, Thunderbird will crash almost all the time. If I close QB, it is fine. I have an HP desktop w/ 8GB ram. What I don't understand is that it started doing this recently, but never used to crash. Is TB using more ram now since the latest releases? Any insight would be appreciated.

This is the error message I get for the last two weeks. Matt at Mozilla did not solve problem. Have rebooted system, unplugged everything several times still unable to send email.

Thunderbird recently upgraded (?) to Version 15 on my Windows 10 laptop. Since them, when I go to look at the "Trash" folder, I get the message: "Unable to open the summary file for Trash on username@gmail.com. Perhaps there was an error on disk, or the full path is too long." I was able to fix it temporarily by restarting Windows 10, but the error is back a few hours later.

Yesterday, David suggested that I find out 1) what are my incoming server settings, 2) my STMP, and 3) to report any error messages. When I contacted the company from which I have broadband, their reply to 1) and 2) was that it was Mozilla Thunderbird that could reply as they did not have that informaion), and in regards to error messages, i have received none, except where, "Send now" appeared before, there is a chubby pen leaning to the right, followed by the word "write, (subject), and "Thunderbird." Having used Thunderbird for some time, I installed it on a new PC, and found that virtually all my emails on a particular account seem to have been deleted, despite the app being set up to retain them. I checked on the webmail (BT) and they have gone. The account is set up as IMAP - as is another account on the same server, which seems OK. BT won't engage with me on this as they "don't support third party apps" I assume that 3 years worth of important client history is gone for ever? Can anyone suggest what I did wrong, or is this a software failure?
