How to start up FF 8.0.1 on Linux Debian Squeeze? Installer did not connect start button.

I can start up FF 8.0.1 by double clicking on the Firefox diamond icon in the install folder (I was previously using Iceweasel) on my Linux Debian Squeeze OS... the installer (worked smoothly) but did not put an icon in my Applications menu. I tried using the terminal, but only guessed the command would be 'firefox,' but even thought I set FF as my default browser, that command started 'Iceweasel.' So what to do now, please (seems to work fine, SO FAR.
