If you download Firefox from Mozilla you will not be asked for a credit card number. If you are being asked for a credit card number do not use that site to get Firefox, instead get it from http://www.mozilla.com

If this is the Firefox home app, it may be a requirement of the iPhone site to enter credit card details. This is not a requirement from Mozilla.
