Recently upgraded to 4.0b6 and Firefox keeps on crashing. It starts out by getting progressively slower and slower, then freezing for a few seconds, then just crashes and all tabs close. On restart everything is mostly saved and I can continue working, but it's impossible to work this way. I doesn't seem linked to any specific site/action.

I have spent a fortune on technician to find malware/viruses and optimise my laptop, but it doesn't seem to help.

My Firefox worked fine till I updated to 4.o now it wont even open. I have done everything that is suggested. The only way I can get FF to work is to change it to a previous version. I think its not the users its something in the update that Mozilla needs to have a look at. I am using Windows 7 but the previous version of FF worked just fine before they rolled out 4.o.

Same here as with others listed above. Very similar problems. My Firefox 4.0 crashes just about every minute or 2, sometimes not even 30 seconds. I upgraded to Firefox 4.0 about a week or so ago and it was fine for a very short while, then all the crashes started. Very frustrating. No problems with my previous version of Firefox at all. Having to use IE to send this and not happy about that at all :(

Can we all please get a fix for this very soon, Thank you ;)

I have now reverted back to Firefox version 3.6.16 and all is now working perfectly again. Upgrade to version 4.0 at your own risk. Don't fix it if is isn't broken !! Until I hear that everything is stable with Firefox 4, then I shall be keeping clear for now :(

you know a good way to stop this is turn your wifi off, and then open firefox, and then turn your wifi back on then use and play ;)

Hey guys,

It seems that Firefox 4 crashes every time my desktop background changes. I've noticed a lot of problems with personalized settings in Windows 7 crashing certain software. I believe this is the root of this problem.

I have this problem repeatedly but only when logged on to CISCO VPN. When not in VPN, no problem.

I have been having this problem too but the way I fixed it was I downloaded firefox again and just replaced the previous one. So far I haven't had any problems since.

after numerous crashes with firefox 4 AND IE 9, I discovered that my graphics (NVidia) was the issue. I am running on the new i7 3rd Gen processor which has an inbuilt HD intel graphics, but my machine also has the Nvidia 555GM series graphics.. i had the machine to always run on the nvidia and the web browsers always crashed, when i set it back to auto select, as in the computer chooses which graphics card is most appropriate for the application, the browser is now behaving itself again.

so, for anyone with this issue, it may be linked to Nvidia. Either update your nvidia drivers or roll back to a more stable version...

just a thought. :)

This is exactly what I observe. I am forced to use Cisco VPN Version 4.8.01.0300 in my company. Companies usually do not change a running system, so I am stuck with what I have and cannot change it. I read somewhere that new versions of Cisco VPN do not cause these problems.

So - using Cisco VPN I can get 20 crashes in an hour (no joking!), without Cisco VPN and direct access to the web, no crash so far.
