I just got a new Macbook Pro and have noticed that I cannot access any sites that use java in Firefox.

I have verified that I do have the latest Java installed and it works fine in safari, and when I do a software update there is nothing to update.

I tried to go into the preferences to see if there is a checkbox to enable it, but there is nothing there, just for javascript - but I need Java.

How can I get firefox to recgonize that I have Java and work?

I do also have the java plugins installed and both are enabled.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== Since I've downloaded firefox last week

Java is enabled by default. There is no longer a checkbox for it in Options, since it can be disabled through Add-Ons->Plugins

To see if Java works at all, let me know if you get animation at this NWS animated radar site. Also look at the Java verification page to see if it detects Java.

I went to the first link and nothing displayed in the content area.

When I went to the second here is the message I receive:

Congratulations! You have the recommended Java installed (Version 6 Update 13).

Thanks, Lindsey

Your plugins list shows two Java entries. I do not know if you need both.

Hi, I checked with the system update and I do indeed have the most up to date java installed.

The java plugins are ones that came automatically installed when I downloaded firefox.

I just want them to work so I don't have to revert to safari to view java pages.

I have found a solution.

I re-downloaded firefox and installed it.

Repoened firefox, tried again and now all works.
