"Finish installing Firefox?" when installed in user applications folder on Mac

Hi, every time I open Firefox on a Mac I get a dialog asking me to "Finish installing Firefox", which will apparently add Firefox to /Applications and Dock.

The sysadmin who manages my Mac asked me to install Firefox into /Users/<user>/Applications instead of /Applications, and I do not have permission to install anything into /Applications anyway, so I cannot finish the installation. I already put Firefox into my Dock manually, so I don't need this dialog to do it for me.

The update window also says "This update requires administrator privileges", which should not be needed to update an app in /Users/<users>/Applications, but it looks like Firefox is trying to install updates into /Applications and failing because it does not have permission.

Is there any way to get rid of this dialog, and have Firefox work from /Users/<user>/Applications? Thanks.
