Problems with FF after ungrading Windows

I am using Firefox ver 104.0.2 (64-bit) on a Dell XPS L702X laptop with 16Gb ram and an i7-2860QM CPU. I upgraded my operating system yesterday to Windows 10 Pro build 19042.1889 Feature Pack 120.2212.4180.0 and FF has not worked properly since. To open FF I must open a second instance, otherwise the first instance doesn't complete opening; it just sits there blank, a completely empty frame. After I open the 2nd instance, then both instances continue to open properly.

When I then use FF, many odd things happen. For example, when I try to complete a captcha verification, FF crashes. Often other features don't work, such as hovering over a button that normally pops up info. They, too, just sit spinning their wheels.

Prior to this I have used FF for years without any significant problems. Has anyone had similar experiences? Does anyone know what I might do to rectify the situation? Any and all help much appreciated.
