My Location

more options

I am desperately trying to figure out how to change my current location and Firefox so that it is more accurate, for some reason it has me located 200 miles west of my actual location. I have attempted to turn settings on to allow for better location, I have cleared cach, I have done several searches and all attempts using those prompts have done nothing. My last resort would be to uninstall Firefox and reinstall but that will cause all my information, Ie: passwords, bookmarks, site permissions to be lost as far as I am aware. I have another Android phone using Firefox and it has no issue with my location. Please, please somebody tell me how to fix this issue.

Most sites initially guess your location based on your network connection. So if both phones are using the identical connection, it doesn't make sense that you get a different location.

I guess the exception would be if your ISP gives out the distant address, and Firefox thinks the site has location permission only on one of your phones and not on the other one. Granting location permission on a phone usually would allow use of the GPS radio and that should give the same results in both cases.

Is it possible that in the Android settings for Firefox, location is blocked on one of the devices?

Settings > Apps > Firefox > App permissions

So both phones are of the same brand, slightly different model numbers, using the same wireless carrier. The phone with the issue has permissions granted for location. Even when my GPS is on and a site, like Lowe's or Walmart asks to use my location it still thinks I am 200 miles to the West. When I use Google maps and GPS is on it has my coordinates correct. If I've inadvertently blocked my location on this phone I don't know how I'd unblock that as I don't recall doing that. :•)

thank you for your help thus far

It still sounds like a Firefox-only problem. If Firefox prompts you to grant location permission on store finder pages, then you have the default setting ("Always Ask"). If Android lets Firefox access location, then it should just work. Nothing else leaps to mind.

I do have permission granted, it's default is set to, "when using this app", Not "ask everytime" or "Never". Frustrating. I'm unaware of anywhere else that I need to Grant permission for Firefox, as I've gone through setting and anywhere else I can think to look for a different setting type. Again, Thank You.

Sorry, I meant inside Firefox. The global setting for location permission is under

menu > Settings > Site Permissions

The default is "Ask to allow" and the other option is "Blocked". I assume that still has its default value.
