After every Thunderbird update the pinned shortcut changes to blank and does not work. The Start Menu shortcut still works and when Thunderbird is launched from there it links to the broken pinned shortcut.

For years after every Thunderbird update my pinned shortcut is changed to the blank paper icon and no longer works to launch Thunderbird. I can launch from the Start Menu and when it is started, it links (highlights) the broken pinned shortcut.

It appears that the program still links to the shortcut, but the shortcut no longer links to the program.

I have to delete the pinned shortcut and create a new one from the Start Menu every time and re-pin it.

Firefox has never had this problem.

I found 27 shortcuts labeled Thunderbird (1) Thunderbird (2), etc.. in the pinned shortcuts folder;

%AppData%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar

I removed my current pinned shortcut and deleted all of the rest. Then I created a fresh one.
