Hi Mozilla community,

Today I have encountered a disastrous problem on my android Firefox, which now displays unintelligible nonsense where other browsers on the same device have no problems. The only evidence of any text on a page is the structure of the page around it, and images show up as anything from gray or black rectangles to flattened messes. I have taken a few basic measures to combat the issue, such as checking the text size, restarting the device, clearing cache, and doing a fresh install, all to no avail. The device I use runs ColorOS 3.0.0i, which is built upon Android 5.1. The most curious thing about my problem is that Firefox was working without issue a week ago, which is stated to be when it last updated. The images I have provided respectively are: - The Mozilla Support page I found from the menu. The bar in the middle reacts like the search bar. - The Google search of "firefox android broken" - The Reddit link I blindly clicked on after my search - The About section of the browser

Any advice on what could possibly be the cause would be thoroughly appreciated, so I can only hope that what information I have provided is sufficient. Thanks in Advance.

This is the same bug as described by others in the past days, maybe it gets some developer attention if you hit the "I have the same problem" on these posts:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333752 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333739 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333380 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333413 https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1333757

The problem seems to be the recent update to version 88, as you noticed, too.

The only help right now is to downgrade to version 86 (available from apkmirror.com) and prevent any further Firefox updates.

Which device / model do you use?

Thanks for making it clear that this isn't an isolated issue. In case it has anything to do with the problem, I'm using an OPPO F1S I got back in 2017, which is still in good nick.

The problem has apparently been identified as a driver issue in Android 5 with Mali T graphics. Should be fixed in Firefox 88.1.2.

Hi

Just a quick note to confirm that this (as mentioned above) should be fixed in a forthcoming update.
