Suppressing immediate launch on clicking a link

It used to be possible to prevent Firefox immediately launching when a link was clicked, allowing me to line up lots of links (say, from a newsletter) of articles I wanted to read. A small banner would display at the bottom of the screen that acknowledged the link was lined up in Firefox and you could press that to launch the app if you wanted to.

I cannot find that setting to re-enable it and am finding that I have to keep switching between email and Firefox to open all the links I want to view. If I click Back on my Pixel the page I've just launched is closed.

I can't remember the name of the feature, hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about and can suggest a workaround or tell me where it is in the settings.
