Can't move a pane or panel far enough to see all of it, or under it, if trying to work in two panes at once. How did I screw it up?

Firefox 49.0.2 Windows 7.0 ultimate. Open Firefox, Panels and panes are different than I left them. They can only be moved around about one half inch. Clicking on a window that's behind another ddooes NOT bring the background panel too the foreground. ONLY does this in Firefox. I usually run with my bookkmarks pane vertically on the left side. Now my facebook friends and groups pane starts there. If I set bookmarks pane up there again, half of the bookmarks panel is under the panel to the right of it so I can't move it all the way out. De-installed, reinstalled (twice), no change. This is giving me a helmet fire.
