If I delete en email, it goes to trash, if I delete that file from trash it goes to spam, I delete it from spam, it goes to trash, It never is deleted? Help

My messages are caught in a circle. If I delete an email it goes to the trash folder. If I delete it from the trash folder it goes to the spam folder. If I delete it from spam folder it goes back to the trash folder. The cycle never stops from spam to trash back to spam back to trash.

I don't want to set the program to delete immediately, i know how to do that. I want files to go to the trash file, and then be able to delete them, without it going into the circle. Help please.
