Can't adjust brightness automatically on ZTE Open C

When entering the settings menu of ZTE Open C and selecting "Display", there should be an option to automatically adjust screen brightness, shouldn't it? Because there is no such option actually . Altough sometimes you can watch the expected dialog quickly disappear. Does ZTE Open C not have an ambient light sensor? Or could it be a software-side problem? As far as I know, the predecessor (ZTE Open) had such a sensor and the according option.

If someone has the android-version of the phone: does this reproduce there?

Helpful answers are highly appreciated!

I know there is auto brightness on the geeksphone devices and zte open. I'm not sure why it's not there on the zte open c, however it may be because the logistics for auto brightness hasn't been finalized and has been pulled.

If you don't mind me asking what os version the device is on? Also, in my own experience, auto brightness didn't work too well for me so I would think like I said earlier - it's as bit buggy.

Thank you Andrew for your quick answer and sorry that I forgot to post device details: it's Firefox OS 1.3 and ZTEs software version is FFOS_EU_EBAY_OPENCV1.0.0B04.

Meanwhile I

  1. wrote an email to ZTE about this (and will share the answer here of course)
  2. did a test and turns out, that on ZTE Open C the window.ondevicelight is null

Anyway, while hoping it is just a bug and not a lack of feature, I will not complain about it since it is such a great phone for a small price.

Hi P.J.Fry,

Thanks for contacting us and investigating this issue further, as well as contacting ZTE about it.

I opened a bug ticket #1005599 about this issue, and have also asked for more information.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or comments.

Thanks!!
