My Profile Folder is on D drive and contains my mail accounts (and their storage) and my Local Folders. I think (some time ago) I must have copied it there and changed all the account settings to point to the new location. All works well. But I read an answer to the question: - "Thunderbird local profile relocation resulted in two profiles in use" Very much like my problem. I have a profile on C taking up space AND the (recently discovered) Profile Manager confirms it to be in the default C folder. Can I just use Profile Manager to point to the currently in use, D folder ? Or should I do as was suggested in the similar question/answer, and copy the C folder to a new folder on D, etc... ? Thank you in anticipation. Pete Smith, UK.

If you are using the profile on D, the one on C is just taking up space and can be removed. This probably happened when you copied from C to D and left the original there. Profile Manager always starts in C, but there is no problem in having profile on D. And both are NOT in use, just one.

Thank you for your extreeemly quick response. I deleted everything except the folder and the profile.ini Unfortunately, on restarting TB I got this error message:- "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible." I did copy the C default folder though. So, I have copied it back and all is as before. It's only 1.5GB, so I can live with it. Unless any other ideas ? Regards Pete Smith, UK.

That tells me that you are using the profile in C, not in D as you posted. You can confirm that by viewing the profiles.ini file. If you want to use the profile in D, you can do that by either manually editing the profiles.ini file or by selecting help>moretroubleshootinginformation, scroll to 'Profiles', click 'about:Profiles', click 'create profile', click New, and then 1) enter a name for the profile (e.g., MYPROFILE), and then 2) click the browse button to locate and select the profile in drive D. Once that is stable, you can delete the folder in C.

HOWEVER, what also might be true is that you may have profile in C, and accounts and local folder in D. You can verify all of that by clicking through your account pages and viewing where the accounts and folders reside. My guess is that this may be how your profile is configured. In that case, you need both C & D.
