You have Outlook installed on the same computer as Thunderbird? Then I suggest you report the bug to bugzilla dot mozilla dot org.

Well, I've been trying to do that for 2 days now and haven't found anywhere that allows me to report a bug. Ive looked the forums over and over and haven't found a definitive answer. I can get emails imported, but not the accounts, just the emails imported to the Local folder.

Lets get this very clear.

Import from Outlook is for the desktop Microsoft application Outlook. It is a component of the Microsoft office suite. It is in no way related to any of the web based offerings from office365.com

Office365 email is simply added to Thunderbird as any other mail account is added. ie Gmail, Yahoo,GMX, mail.com or the offering from your internet service provider. If the mail is hosted on a business account, it may be that open standards connections are disabled by the administrator and you need to use an addon to access the Microsoft proprietary parts. If that is the case the new account wizard should detect this and offer the addon.

From my reading of this topic, it sounds to me like you want to add your office365 mail account on to Thunderbird not import mail from the outlook desktop application.

Note that bug reporting and triage is undertaken using the Mozilla Bugzilla implementation here. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ But unless I have completely misread this, I see no bug to report.

OK, what I am trying to import are the accounts that are setup in my Outlook 365 software. Sorry, I should have made that more clear.

I have 18 email accounts setup in my Office 365 app, none are Microsoft Exchange or anything like that, 4 are outlook.com email addresses, 2 are Gsuite addressess and the rest are regular Gmail addresses.

The settings for office365 are here, and I believe they also work for outlook.com. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-8361e398-8af4-4e97-b147-6c6c4ac95353

Settings for gmail are here: https://clean.email/blog/email-settings/gmail-email-settings BUT, you need to set up authentication with OAUTH, and more info there is here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/9003945?hl=en These requirements are not just for Thunderbird, but for any email client.

Thanks for your reply.

I know the settings, and as of now I've manually added all accounts, 18 I think it is, but that's what I was trying to avoid, having to do it manually.

The issue resides in the Import wizard not doing importing the account. I CAN import the messages from all those accounts and they go into the Local Folder, but the accounts ARE NOT imported.

Sounds like all went well. True, as Matt stated, the import wizard has specific audiences. The good news is that, now that you have your account set up, the import wizard will be useful should you need to migrate to a new computer or later reinstall.

Really not sure how you can consider any of it went well.

The wizard DOES NOT do as intended. When you go through the steps it doesn't even give options to WHICH accounts I'd like to import.

If the intent is to import just the messages, there are much easier ways to do it.

But I'm sure the wizard is meant to IMPORT everything from another client, is it not? The wizard just isn't doing it. SO no, it's a 100% fail and nothing has been solved.

No, the import feature is explicitly for the options stated. We consider it a 100% success, and importing profiles for Thunderbird users migrating to new PCs is a major new feature. It was never designed to transport settings from any number of email clients, just the configurations specified.

more options

Ok, options stated...

The third option says "Import from Outlook", "Import ACCOUNTS, address books, and messages from Outlook."

I choose that 3rd option and hit Continue...

Next screen says "Import from Outlook" and has 4 options below... I UNCHECK ALL the options EXCEPT for the first one which is "Accounts and Settings"... hit Continue

On the next screen it says "Data to be imported" and below that it says "Accounts and settings", mind you that every other email client at this point will have a popup show up giving me the option WHICH accounts to import, the fact nothing like that pops up indicates that the wizard isn't reading data from anywhere...

I now hit "Start Import" (this is on a clean install of Thunderbird, NO ACCOUNTS have been manually configured or anything...

IMMEDIATELY, and I mean not even a second passes by and the windows saying the the wizard has finished pops up... with 18 emails accounts and tens of thousands of emails in those accounts, I don't think Thunderbird is even going through the Outlook file directories

So, to summarize, the options to import accounts using the wizard, DOES NOT WORK.

If you are saying you are importing from Microsoft Outlook business suite, and not office365, as Matt explained earlier in this thread, then you may want to file a bug report at bugzilla dot mozilla dot org. But if it's office365 or outlook dot com, then it is not a bug.
