When hitting reply on an ongoing conversation (a few back an forths) where I sign the messages (PGP/MIME) and the message contains the term `-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----` somewhere in the quoted text, Thunderbird THROWS AWAY the last message (-> the message that I am actually replying to). It is there for a millisecond, you can see it, then Thunderbird seems to parse over the message and delete the portion that is above the quoted text `-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----`. Happens everytime consistently, reproducable on version 60.9.1 on OSX Catalina.

has the certificate for the message expired?

There are no certificate mechanics in play. It is merely enough that said string (-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----) is somewhere in the quoted text of a reply, or so it seems. Maybe the matching closing string is also needed, I am not sure of that.

This string is attached by Thunderbird to a message that is signed before sending via PGP/MIME. If the recipient then replies, the string remains within the message. Maybe Enigmail parses this in some way, I am not sure. I am sure though, that for this to be reproducable it does not make a difference, if I still have the valid certificate or not.

If the message is signed, then of course certificates are in play.

Do you have enigmail installed? if so disable it and reply to a message. Same issue?

Hi Matt, I tried disabling Enigmail and indeed, the error no longer occurs. Thanks for the tip!

I guess this is Enigmails problem now?

Just to clarify what I meant: The message is no longer signed, because the replying person didn't sign it.
