I have just installed the Thunderbird and triing to set it the way I like. When I push the Create button, I see one of my e-mail in the "From" form. But I would like another e-mail to be shown there by default. How can I do this?

That would be an email address?

How many email accounts do you have set up? Do they use POP or IMAP? Are you doing anything funky like combining them into one Inbox?

In theory, Thunderbird will use the email address associated with the folder you are in when writing your reply. If you're in a place like Local Folders, then it should use the address to which the original message was sent. If you create a new message (not a reply) then again it should use the address associated with the currently active folder, or the default address if you're in Local Folders.

In practice, it doesn't always pick the address you'd prefer to use and there are many add-ons to help with this. Look at Correct Identity and Identity Chooser for examples.

Hi. Answering your questions. For now I have set only two e-mails (accounts). They all use pop. Yes, like I am accustomed to do, I've set them to view in one clever folder for inbox. The other folders (outbox, trash and so on) are also set in one folder. I'll now check your idea that Thunderbird shows the e-mail of a selected folder... after some seconds... Yes, it does the way you described. Thank you very much. So, I don't need to set the default "From"-address now, because I can choose it before pushing the Create button. It is not more difficult than the way it's done in Outlook, just another logic of realization. And thus I consider that my problem is solved. Thank you!
