It appears to me that your signature needs HTML, but it was sent as plain text.

For starters, go to the account settings, and under Composition & Addressing, make sure Compose messages in HTML format is ticked.

Ok, I have checked that and it was checked off for HTML, Do you think it could be something else? Forgive me I am not computer savy at all..

Even if you succesfully compose in HTML, it is possible that your message will be delivered as plain text. There are two more things to look at.

In the Address Book, you can set each Contact's preference for plain text vs HTML. If you have sent to someone whose setting is for plain text, then the HTML is converted to plain text with results like those you have shown me.

Under Tools|Options|Composition|General→Send Options you can nominate address domains to set HTML vs plain text. Again if a correspondent's domain has been entered here under plain text, the HTML layout will be lost.

Neither of these strikes me as something that you are likely to change by mistake, so I'm struggling to think why it has apparently spontaneously changed.

Just one more thing: when you say it was "checked off", do I understand you correctly as meaning it was ticked? You need a tick in the box. ;-)

Do you have more than one account? Have you looked at this setting in every one of your accounts?

I did what you said about going to the Tools, Options, Composition, General and I went to "Send Options" I clicked on the drop down box "Text Format" and choose the "Send the Message in HTML anyway option" and that seems to have fixed the problem!

You just said "ticked off" and I am no clearer as to whether it had a tick or not. ;-)

I think your signature should work in both plain text and HTML modes (unless you had any images or font settings that didn't survive in the message you sent to me) but you do need to make sure you stay in HTML mode to stop it being broken again. The setting you have changed may do that for you.

The Signature Switch add-on allows you to specify a signature in both plain text and HTML forms and so it will pick whichever is appropriate. A nice fallback if you find yourself inadvertently using plain text, which might happen if you get a query sent to you in plain text format.

There is yet another add-on that claims to be able to force HTML mode regardless of the circumstances. I need to look up which one that is.
