The Delete button (I've just begun using Thunderbird for Android) sends email to Delete-land: gone for good. There is no way to reprogram it to send to Trash. One can, alternatively, hide it on the main screen by setting swipes left and right to None. But it is still there in the Read screen....and potentially dangerous. If you try to set a swipe to Trash rather than Delete, there is no Trash option. So you have to set it to Move and choose Trash each time. This reduces the utility of Tbird Android and means you have to be extra-careful when reading emails.

Also, no way to reduce image sizes (by percentage) when attaching large picture files...unless you reduce them in advance in an image processing program.

I have no desire to interact with Google, Bing, or Perplexity, and as a rule I don't want outside parties (such as Firefox/Mozilla) deciding for me which search engines or other service providers I see advertising for. (And yes, seeing that "G" logo somewhere is advertising for Google.) I'm assuming that these companies are paying to be pre-loaded as search providers in Firefox, and I understand that Firefox needs this financial support if it's going to continue providing a browser.

After upgrading, I've always gone into the settings and removed these search providers - I don't want to see them offered as search options, and to be honest, I don't even want to see their names in the settings screens.

Now with Firefox 152, I find that I'm not able to delete these pre-loaded search providers anymore. I can turn off a switch to disable them, but there's no way to totally delete them from the list anymore. There's even a [in the documentation] which explicitly says that the pre-loaded search providers cannot be removed, only hidden.

'WHY can I not delete them?

Is there a technical reason, i.e. would the browser stop working if they were removed? Are some companies paying extra to not be delete-able, and it just happens that every one that's pre-loaded in Firefox 152 decided to pay the extra money? Or did Mozilla just make an arbitrary decision to reduce the level of control that users have over their own browsers?

I searched throughout Thunderbird's settings to see where I could enlarge the font in the main screen where the list of emails are. I can't even Ctrl+ in this screen to enlarge it! Help! Eye Strains... Please see the paint screenprint.jpg. for illustration. Thank you! Marla

Sometimes I got a problem with Gmail where I get the error "Too many simultaneous connections", both desktop and Android. I found that Gmail servers support 15 connections. I could reduce the number of connections for desktop in the config editor, but I would like how to do that in the Android app. Some times it creates a lot of connections, and I think the numbers stack up together with dead connection when I reboot my router and get a new IP, so I'm wondering how to set to get just one or two simultaneous connections on Android.

Version 152.0.1 running on Windows 11 Desktop (25H2 Build 36200.8655) on high end PC (Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 4090) has a harder to use interface using Privacy and Settings. Previous versions allowed one screen access to clearing the browser cache of Cookies and setting the Customised Tracking Protection. Now I have to delete the browser cache then click on Advanced Settings, then Customise Tracking Protection so two more Clicks (menu Selections) to do what used to be available on the first screen after clicking/selecting Privacy and Security.

I can use the mouse side buttons to revert (Cherry device) screen forwards and backwards but it is still two extra actions. Used to do quite a bit of Beta testing for FastCad (Mike Riddle Evolution Computing) and this was often designed to keep any action only 2 levels deep. I also denested the (drop down) menus to get rid of the 'flyout menus' items in a drop down to simplify access. One of the better interfaces of any CAD program ever designed. Better than Rhino (which I use) with it's 1200 command icons to remember...even though that is far from the worst. Icons harder to rememeber than text btw.

To this day there are many programs that do not allow this denesting or those that put choices way down a string of menu picks. I find this approach very hard to decipher and not at all intuitive. Some like Creo from PTC are really difficult. Please revert the 'improvement' to the prior state so both clearing the cache and setting the level of Tracking Protection can be done from one screen. I use this several times a day to keep the chance of any unwanted software finding it's way into the box to a minimum.

I hope this is constructive criticism for what is a great product. Thanks all at Mozilla for their hard work and helping us users keep safe on the Web.

All of a sudden my emails are permanently staying in bold in my folders, in Settings >Reading & Display Ive tried changing the 'Automatically mark messages as read radio buttons and quit etc and the same issue is happening, please advise

I just installed Thunderbird on an up to date Windows 11 PC and unchecked the box Automatically mark messages as read, but it keeps marking all of my messages as read.

Help please!

Have been using Thunderbird and Firefox for decades, naturally, and have several email accounts. Within each account, I'm a prolific user of folders within the respective Inboxes. For years, these folders have remained in Alphabetical Order, as when they were set up. Recently, however, for no reason that I can suss, the sub-folders in the Inbox of one of my accounts have been gone "all agley", ie. they're listed all higgledy-piggledy in random order. This isn't a problem for my message filter - but it's a real problem for me, having to scan down a very long, disorganised list to find any particular folder I want to open. I've searched for an instruction to instruct Thunderbird to arrange the Folders in my Inbox in Alphabetical Order and can't find anything. Can anyone help me, please. I REALLY don't want to see prompts like this ... when FF upgrades to a newer release. I postponed clicking on adding this application since I really didn't know what it as going to do, or how to remove it once done. The little 'i' in the red circle did nothing. So - I finally clicked on it to make it go away. Not hat I call a very seamless upgrade.

Whereas on my other computers with the same account I can see all my Emails of years past, on my main computer suddenly and without any understandable reason only the mails of about the last four weeks are accessible and probably saved, be it in the default folder or a local one. I use Norton and Malwarebytes, but so i did already before the change took place. What can I do to reverse Thunderbird to its normal behaviour?

I use Thunderbird with Threaded View enabled and would like to keep using it.

What I am looking for is a way to have Thunderbird automatically keep older threads collapsed, while allowing threads that contain new or unread messages to remain expanded or become expanded automatically.

For example, a thread receives a new message - it is fine for that thread to be expanded. All other existing threads without new activity should remain collapsed. When Thunderbird is restarted, I would like older threads to stay collapsed rather than having many previously viewed threads expanded.

Is there a setting, hidden preference, add-on, or workaround that provides this behavior?

I am using Thunderbird on Kubuntu Linux.

Within the last 6 weeks I migrated to Win11. I migrated my apps that would work and Thunderbird also. Got a recent update of TB. Finally MOSTLY disabled the bloody awful thread thing in TB (seems to be folder specific??!).

But ever since running on Win 11, I cannot stop TB from marking my messages as read even if I have never opened them. Even If I never use another device to connect with email. I try things and sometimes it works for like a day and then poof! : any email that comes in is read as per TB.

It is killing me. I run my biz on email and if it is unread I give it low priority. But turns out it is marked read without any action from me. I get a LOT of emails.

Really! I do no want to migrate to another email program.

I am fluent with regedit and can hack a .ini file. Point me in the right direction please.

On upgrade to 152.0, a pop-up asked for options I have not seen before. I cannot find info about what the net.thunderbird option is, nor why I would or would not want to click it? Any help out there?

I've installed a legacy version of TB and been using it for some weeks, now. [52.9.1 (32-bit)] That's necessary because I run a legacy windoze OS.

I have an idea of how to make the Start Screen Layout easier for me. Specifically the accounts / mailboxes panel, where I [so far] have nine email accounts. The idea is that - under all-but-one email account - have these two folders:

• Inbox
• Sent

Then, under the email account I use the most, I will have

• Inbox
• Drafts
• Sent
• Junk
• Trash . . .

. . . . followed by all the necessary and appropriately-labelled subfolders.

Is there any reason that's a silly idea?

After nearly 30 years, Eudora's SSL settings have made it incompatible with current mail servers. Or so I was told.

Oh, I'm a geriatric, even if a little more computer savvy than some of my contemporaries.

All of a sudden every time I open something in an email it automatically creates a new tab. When I delete what I have open it takes me out of my email account and I have to delete the tab to get back to my remaining emails. I have changed nothing so I am confused as to why it has recently changed.

Until recently the folder pane could be sized or hidden via the double-headed arrowed cursor. Shortly after the 151.0.1 update this stopped working. All suggested solutions have not worked. A full uninstall (Revo Uninstall) and completely new profile has not fixed the problem. Folder pane only responds to the menu setting and is only Open/close but no sizing.

But because the create filter dialog locks out its parent window Then I have to lose what I entered, then find where I want to create a new folder create the folder there and now start over from scratch building my new filter

Also when you create a filter, you should be able to see test matches for the filter you just made There should be a check box to, "run this filter now after creation" The dialog should not lock out its parent window !

And please review the screenshot, this is where we should be able to create folders from
