The "Babylon" folks have a " Search Bar" That self-installs despite advice to NOT install - be aware and try to circumvent?? Thanks. - Joseph sharp
OK, I thought I saw a screen that made the BABYLON SEARCH BAR an option...which I declined. Whatever. Clearly you have some unhappy users out there, if the related comments are a guide. I, too, do not want this search engine forced onto me, nor do I appreciate I have been unable to find a way to dump it!! This is more like a MicroSoft trick of "take it and like it" , NOT what I expected from Mozilla.

Babylon is nothing to do with Mozilla Firefox. Some of the Babylon software may be deliberately downloaded, but possibly the majority is accidentally acquired when bundled with something else.
I suspect the business plan is not to simplify or encourage removal of such moneymaking software. Having said that it is not out and out malware, and the Babylon support will assist in removal if necessary.
Mozilla Firefox should be updating the documentation on such problems any time now.
With hindsight the obvious solution is not to download software without reading all the fine print. Once unwanted software is installed there are two stages
- identify the software and try to remove it. Often the names may not be obvious, and it may require global removal from the OS using the Windows Control Panel.
- the firefox settings messed up by the software need resetting. There is an extension available that often succeeds in doing that for you.
