The address and search boxes keep disappearing

I've added toolbars to Firefox and positioned the address and search boxes on one of them (from the 'customise' option on the toolbar).

Most of the time this works fine but every so often they disappear. Sometimes it's when I open a new tab but mainly it's when Firefox first opens. They can be re-installed OK from the 'customise' menu but it's a nuisance. It also happens on all computers I've got Firefox is installed on, so it must be common to Firefox, not the operating system

I'm using the latest version of FF but it started happening several versions ago. I've also tried disabling add-ons but that makes no difference.

Any ideas why they disappear and can I do anything to stop it?

Sounds like there is a problem with the localstore.rdf file if that toolbar disappears.

I ended up taking a copy of the localstore.rdf file from another installation and putting it in the profile folder. All seems OK now.
