Make sure your pop-up blocker is enabled, although this ad might not technically be a "pop-up". Firefox Button (or tools, if your Firefox button is disabled.) -> Options -> Content. Make sure "Block Pop-ups" is checked.
If you would like to block all intrusive ads, consider downloading the Adblock Plus addon for Firefox.

It would be be very well known if that was by chance true, so it not the case.
